Influences
Lots of different folks who wouldn't appreciate being mentioned on our site.
Tara's Fire was (ahem) "kindled" in May of 2004 by three friends who had a BURNING desire to get out and play Irish music, in spite of the fact that only one of them actually KNEW and could remember the lyrics to any real Irish Music. (was that a problem?) For a brief time (a little over a year), they enjoyed some small success - added another couple of friends to fill out our already HOT sound, played a few gigs, competed in music competitions, released a CD (hint mode on: Kindling the Flame - you should buy it! - we still have a few! :hint mode off). But alas, things happened. The flames of Tara's Fire cooled to coals while we took care of personal business.
But the desire to make HOT music still lingered...
Various members went ahead and worked on personal projects:
Greg (the Dread Reverend) learned how to play a musical instrument (if you can call that playing), and enjoyed some success on his own.
Ray formed up with Dan and Mike to take a stab at music with North End(of a Southbound Mule), and when the body was well and truly punctured, went ahead and did some collaboration with Greg and his sometime backup band.
The collaboration was such a success (Let's face it, Ray's a much better singer), that we once again had a BURNING desire (really, aren't there ointments for that?) to make HOT music again.
Since Greg abandoned his bodhran for the guitar, and Ray can't do anything but sing, we needed a drummer. Luckily, our good friend (and Greg's neighbor), John, was up for it, and since he already had some drums, and a high tolerance for pain (he DID work with Greg during the "Dread Reverend" period), he agreed to work with us (lucky him!).
SOOOooooooo.... where does that leave us now?
Oh, yeah - Tara's Fire has since been REKINDLED, and we are out in your area making HOT Irish Music. Really. We've played out. Honest. People even say they like us (to our faces...) We have a new CD (Fair Enough - buy our CD! Please! It's really the only way to get it out of the hands of people who will actually PLAY the thing, not knowing any better....)
Great job at O'Donold's! I finally uploaded your photo to MVLiveMusic.com . Sorry it took so long. I've been even busier than usual. It's in the Tara's Fire listing in the Musicians page, and in the Photos page. You can use it if you want. I'll also put it in the homepage slide show soon. ... Steve
I'm going to let the family know your schedule but I think we will all probably be there to see you on St. Patty's Day at the Maigh Eo. Can't wait to hear you guys!!
I couldn't agree with you more!!! Fine Irish whiskey might cure this pneumonia that has been lingering.... Having you as my Fine Irish Friend really helps as well.... Thanks for being here for me!! (I'm such the crappy patient, real whiner, pisser and moaner....) (I'm a good nurse, but a BAAADDDD patient!!!) LOLLLLL
