On a recent journey to SXSW, this Calgary based songwriter befriended Tennessee producer Neilson Hubbard (Garrison Starr, Matthew Ryan) and traveled with him to Nashville to record his latest album Goodbye Lonely. Acoustic guitar, pedal steel and Wurlitzer accompany the gravelly voiced singer with Middle Eastern roots who sounds less like raga, and more Dylan. This is Tariq’s second release since The Basement Songs, an album he recorded for EMI Music Canada in 1997, which featured the single “Chevrolet Way” and which earned him a Juno Nomination. Tariq currently calls Vancouver home where he also hosts a music show on CBC Radio 3.

Hello Tariq.
I have posted songs from my new CD "Sad Sorry-Ass Folk Singer" to be released April 20 @ the Ironwood.
Maybe see you at the ship on April 28.
Thanks for the add! I saw you open for Great Big Sea a loooong time ago, back at the Royal Theatre in Victoria... I bought The Basement Songs and I love it. I'll have to check out your other stuff now too.
