..Tarka was born for rock and roll.... never conforming to the system he left his head clear to express his life in his songs, and his life so far has been a full and wild ride. His passion for tone and action led him from London to learn his craft way down where it all began in Louisiana. Not New Orleans, but to the swamps he walked, with nothing but his guitar and a couple of chords.
They liked the way he played those chords - so much so that soon he couldn't turn up at any show without being invited on stage. He played with the best of them for years and before he left he produced three legendary Louisiana albums: for CC Adcock and Steve Riley - now recognized as classics; he did stints in the studio with legends Jimmy Miller and Jack Nitszche; even Keith Richards took the time out to school and mature Tarka's guitar playing.
He then headed for New York City and hooked up with bad boy Evan Dando for a couple of years cause he wanted to learn how to pen a song or two. The wild dogs ran. His debut album is now ready under the title of "Wide Awake in a Dream". It is a simple and compelling story of his heady days in New York City, it is as original and fresh as it is timeless.
You were truly a brother to me and it will never be the same without you. Here's to all the adventures and laughs. Little Bean and I will always love you.
Tarka – I admire your work. I dropped by to say how much I enjoyed the guitar work you guys did on Little Star – but you’re not here. I planned to contact you at some point in the future about producing the songs and film score for Big Sky. The scope is gonna be there musically – stretched out and wild – which is why I thought of you. I’ll find a way to get it done for you then; you can send me a little producin' vibe from the Sky. Little Star, goodnight.
I came to listen but it's too sad...Goodbye my old friend. You deserved better than this. The world is a more beautiful place for you having been in it & I will think of you always. Please keep an eye on all of us who are still here & I will see u on the other side.
Wide awake in a dream... i say goodbye to you, my brother... and all the beautiful music we made together brings a smile to my face. Your sound kissed , touched and inspired every record that came out of my studio. And the saga continues. I love you brother. May you be happy wherever you are.
Hope you are having a good Holiday season! I wanted to let you know that i'll be touring in the UK in January with Kevin Montgomery, and we are playing London on Jan. 15th....at the Half Moon on Putney.
