Sounds Like
Myself:) Many people say my voice has a tone that's similar to Allison Krauss but with a little more edge. I also feel connected to the styles of Patty Loveless, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Emmy Lou Harris, Lee Ann Womack, and Sara Evans.
I grew up in a small town in Indiana, singing in churches, banquets, and local functions with my sister and mother. We began harmonizing when my sister, Dea, was five years old and I was three. Every couple years my mom would take us to a recording studio to ensure a good keepsake of the younger years, which turned out to be true and good experience for us. My two dreams as a kid were to be a country singer and an Olympic gymnast (haha). It didn't take many years for me to realize that the gymnastics dream was not going to come true, but music had always been my first love anyway. After going to college at Indiana University for two years and travelling with the Singing Hoosiers, I moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University for it's music business program. It was during those years that I really started focusing on playing guitar and songwriting and fell in love with the whole creative process. I remained in Nashville and worked in music publishing and artist managment on the business side while songwriting and playing out at clubs and restaurants in the evenings. And now I am enjoying writing, recording, performing, and singing demos full time. In addition to guitar I play mandolin and piano. I like writing both lyrics and melody, but it usually starts with a lyrical idea for me so I always keep a little notebook handy. I feel blessed to be able to do what I love and thank the Lord for the gift of music. I also enjoy swing dancing, being outdoors (especially near water), spending quality time with my hubby, gardening, and reading a good book.
