INVISIBLE WAVES
This atmospheric and artful thriller sees Tadanobu Asano (Vital, Ichi The Killer) fleeing the country after killing his lover, with the crime weighing heavy on his mind - although that's not the only one of his problems... Directed by Pen-ek Ratanaruang and beautifully photographed by Chris Doyle (In The Mood For Love, 2046) the film also starring Hye-Jeong Kang (Oldboy) and Eric Tsang (infernal Affairs).
BRIGHT FUTURE
Mamoru and Yuji are two friends ambling along stuck in dead-end jobs until Mamoru inexplicably murders their boss' family, leading to his imprisonment and Yuji having to work his way on his own. A fascinating, stylised and slightly surreal film, it also stars Tadanobu Asano and is directed by acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Seance, Pulse).

Back with a vengeance comes Brian Yuzna's masterpiece of paranoia with Baywatch boy Billy Warlock finding himself an outsider to his society's dark, deviant games - though as the gore-drenched climax shows, he'd have been better off out of it.
