The weird guitar band at dance parties and the weird dance band at rock shows, Taste of Teeth will break you into little pieces and put you back in a new order. ToT deliver rich textures, bombast attack and magnificent chaos, creating sonic worlds that dodge genre trends and fuse hypnotic drum driven dance rhythms with a vast palate of psychedelic sounds.
In the past 2 years, Taste of Teeth have made ripples in the new music world, carved unique voices in Brisbane, Sydney, Blue Mountains, Newcastle, Lismore and Melbourne and have developed significant audiences through a string of 100 or so acclaimed festival and club shows including:
• A collaborative performance with Damo Suzuki (veteran of the Krautrock scene and vocalist for 70’s psychedelic rock pioneers “Can”)
• Queensland Music Festival’s “Australian International Music Market”
• The headlining performance at the NOW now Festival of Spontaneous Music 2008.
• Exodus Live, The SOOB Festival, Valley Fiesta, Island Times Festival, Earthdance, The Judith Wright COCA, BIGSOUND 2006, The Zoo, The Globe, 303, Bar Open, Rubys Lounge and many others.
Taste of Teeth have recently released their debut LP (Janaury 2008) funded by Brisbane City Council’s Creative Sparks Grant 2007. A stand alone work, this record captures the spirit of improvisation in the group’s music whilst employing the full advantage of a studio environment to further push each composition’s textures, forms, dynamics and depth, bringing the group to new creative heights.
“There was no question of sleeping through the final act of the festival. Taste of Teeth from Brisbane are like a 1960’s/70’s freak rock cult - Lots of Afros, oversized sunglasses, men in dresses, and an enthusiastic entourage who dance to anything.” At the NOW now Festival, Real Time Magazine.
“It was Fantastic!...” Jim Denley - the NOW now
“What Santana would be doing if he’d kept moving forward…” Sue Harding – Wagga Space Program

Brisbane outfit Toy Balloon will release their debut album Toy Division on
November 8 through Lofly Records, and to celebrate will perform an east coast
launch tour throughout November.
Formed in 2007, Toy Balloon was
originally a fledgling two-piece made up by Nimai Etheridge’s uniquely melodic
wall-of-sound guitar and Greg Cooper’s beautiful sequenced electronic
compositions. The band have since matured into a four piece featuring Chloe
Cooper (Mr Maps) on key boards and Ben Green on drums.
The album was
recorded and mixed at the Lofly Hangar in Brisbane, a DIY performance space that
Toy Balloon has been an integral part of creating. Fostering emerging artists
and left-of-centre music, the Hangar acts as a performance space, recording
studio, and meeting place; and has resulted in a record with a rich, layered
sound reminiscent of New Order, Mogwai, Boards of Canada, and LCD
Soundsystem.
