After a year of being together, Taste the Venom have worked hard to make a name for themselves, by securing shows with Australian acts across various genres including Zombie Ghost Train (SYD), Mustang, Group Seizure, Long Walk Home, Winterun, Skybombers and Night Terrors. In late 2006 the gals were honoured to play the booze-drenched farewell show of touring Swedish band Crucified Barbara, who departed Melbourne to support Motorhead!
Their music is a fusion of genres, with elements of garage rock, nu-wave, indie rock and metal. The live show is at times frenetic, sometimes intense, occasionally shambolic but always entertaining, with high kicks, double kick, fast licks, aerial drumming, sonic meltdowns and the occasional concussion.
Taste the Venom have huge plans for the future, after a successful launch of their debut Steady Hands, Steady Fingers EP, forecasted for 2008 will be the release of their next EP, digital distribution, online shop, and a national tour – clear skies ahead!
Previous and current projects include The Amazons, Matramuta, Myagi, Pussy XXX, Plastic Palace Alice, and The Diamond Dolls Burlesque. Individual band members have shared stages with acts as diverse as the White Stripes (US), Destruction (GER), Bangs (US), Magic Dirt, The Johnnies and Jet.
It's going to be a monster four band pile up on highway 666 as Vultures of Venus crash into the Birmingham on Thursday the 3rd of ..heir debut LP which is now available through I-Tunes has been receiving strong support and favorable reviews from local radio RRR, PBS and Syn Fm. It will also be available in hard copy on the night. This gig is gonna be fun, fun, fun on the Smith st autobahn. Armed with big rock riffs and blazing electrified keys this is the Vultures first show since their sellout LP Launch. This is a band with a plan; and that plan is to make you do the Can Can. Joining them on the night is Mirrorhouse Antics whos live show is a cross between the Arctic Monkeys and The Stooges. They have just released their debut album, recorded at Bakehouse by Mikey from Eddie Current Suppression Ring. Dan Webb's 60's styled Hammond infused insanity is gonna be something to look out for as well as the 'Wise Flys' : they'll make you laugh they'll make you cry, they'll make you laugh about crying. And don't forget to look out for the crazy clown pinyada filled with burning flesh and give away fun toys for the kids. This is a B.Y.O "leotard friendly event ". So pour yourself into your favorite and come on down !!!

It’s unleashed on Thursday 29th of October at Bar Open on Brunswick St. It’s Bowie on steroids; it’s Marquis de Sade and Andy Warhol screaming at the moon through a home-made vocoder. The Lollyshop is open for business ! It’s going to be a huge night filled with bubble machines, strobes, psychedelic video projections and cautionary tales to tell your grandchildren. It will also feature live performances from those vixens of burlesque “the Venus Man Traps”. Support on the night comes from psych-popsters Go-Go Sapien serving up synth-infected garage with lashings of ravenous big sexy guitars. Make sure you get down early to catch the debut performance by newcomers Tusk. And most importantly we have kept the entry fee down to a very affordable – FREE ! Vultures of Venus prepare to tear up the stage this week with two incendiary performances. The first at Revolver on the 23 July on Chapel St. The Vultures are joined by the devastating sounds of Roxy Moron and MojoRising, both well respected noise makers from the Southside of town.
