  • Bio

Adam Hammer has a story to tell. It’s a story of fatherhood, homelessness, love, addiction, recovery, pain, comfort and unity told in front of a backdrop of his own unique style of “tattooed folk” music. The musical melting pot that makes up Hammer’s influences is why his sound is so unique. Raised on rock, punk and alternative rock as an outcast in a west central Minnesota town of 735 people, Hammer found an appreciation for acoustic music. He continued dabbling in acoustic music and honed his style while living and performing in Nashville. Since returning to Minnesota in 2003, he has released three EPs, including “From the Basement” in 2010. His first solo full-length is do out early 2011. Since 2009, Hammer has toured the Midwest extensively with fellow songwriter Dave Cofell. Cofell also plays with Hammer in his “black and blues” side project Adam Hammer & the Impact.

  • Sounds Like

"The opening "Starshine" grabs the listener with a catchy piano and guitar hook. "Underwater Love Song" is cool and almost haunting in its delivery. "The Drive" might just be the best tune here, as it starts with the sound of a needle landing on a record and moves into a cool blues sound highlighted by Dave Cofell’s harmonica." - Karl Leslie, St. Cloud Times CD review for "From the Basement" EP "...Hammer has succeeded in surrounding his poetry with a quiet, lush, acoustic vibe that draws you in and makes for some great laid-back listening." - Karl Leslie, St. Cloud Times CD review for "Tattooed Folk EP" "Ultimately what sells Adam is his honesty and openness about his life." - Nelson Heise, Rift Magazine CD review for "Tattooed Folk EP"
