Taurus Alphonso born in the hills of Clarendon (Mocho) Jamaica started singing in Sunday School and church Choirs at a very tender age. Influenced by the hit makers of the era he decided very early that he was going to be a singer. He started experimenting with writing by making up songs on his siblings. In his late teens he wrote and co produced a song called "Jesus is a Soul man" which did fairly well on the religious circuit. He then tried his hands at teaching and then fire fighting but with the music burning in his guts he knew he had to make a move to the capitol Kingston, where his dream would become reality. There he joined forces with two friends to form a trio THE MELLO-TONES. They recorded their first two singles , "Bed of roses" and "Live Together" which did well on the European scene. When the group broke up in the eighties Taurus then migrated to the USA and launched a solo career. He recorded several singles that made him a household name in north America and specially south Florida. Taurus toured the Caribbean and North America before settling down to record and release his first album/cd "Strong Gifted And Black."
Taurus Alphonso has just released his second cd comprising of 13 tracks and is feverishly working on promotion to get it out there, for the world to hear.
