WONDER WOMAN:
Books
"Progressive art can assist people to learn not only about the objective forces at work in the society in which they live, but also about the intensely social character of their interior lives. Ultimately, it can propel people toward social emancipation."
--- Salvador Dali
"The ideal man bears the accidents of life with dignity and grace, making the best of circumstances."
--- Aristotle
"If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time -a tremendous whack. "
--- Winston Churchill
"Character is higher than intellect. A great soul will be strong to live as well as think."
--- Ralph Waldo Emerson
"True friends stab you in the front."
--- Oscar Wilde
"You can always tell a real friend: when you've made a fool of yourself he doesn't feel you've done a permanent job."
--- Laurence J. Peter
"Wisdom outweighs any wealth."
--- Sophocles
Heroes
"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible." --- T. E. Lawrence
Who I'd like to meet: I’d like to meet and ask the following questions:
Anaïs Nin (February 21, 1903–January 14, 1977)
My Question: “What made you realize that you could write erotica for women in the 1940’s?”
"I do not want to be the leader. I refuse to be the leader. I want to live darkly and richly in my femaleness. I want a man lying over me, always over me. His will, his pleasure, his desire, his life, his work, his sexuality the touchstone, the command, my pivot. I don’t mind working, holding my ground intellectually, artistically; but as a woman, oh, God, as a woman I want to be dominated. I don’t mind being told to stand on my own feet, not to cling, be all that I am capable of doing, but I am going to be pursued, fucked, possessed by the will of a male at his time, his bidding." --- Anaïs Nin
Benjamin Franklin (January 17, 1706 – April 17, 1790)
My Question: “What made you publicly acknowledged your illegitimate son William?”
13 Virtues of Benjamin Franklin:
1. "TEMPERANCE. Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation."
2. "SILENCE. Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversation."
3. "ORDER. Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time."
4. "RESOLUTION. Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve."
5. "FRUGALITY. Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing."
6. "INDUSTRY. Lose no time; be always employ'd in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions."
7. "SINCERITY. Use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak accordingly."
8. "JUSTICE. Wrong none by doing injuries, or omitting the benefits that are your duty."
9. "MODERATION. Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve."
10. "CLEANLINESS. Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, cloaths, or habitation."
11. "TRANQUILLITY. Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable."
12. "CHASTITY. Rarely use venery but for health or offspring, never to dullness, weakness, or the injury of your own or another's peace or reputation."
13. "HUMILITY. Imitate Jesus and Socrates."
George Bernard Shaw (26 July 1856 – 2 Nov. 1950)
My Question: “Why did you loath the democratic system of your time?”
In his will, Shaw stated that his "religious convictions and scientific views cannot at present be more specifically defined than as those of a believer in creative revolution." He requested that no one should imply that he accepted the beliefs of any specific religious organization, and that no memorial to him should "take the form of a cross or any other instrument of torture or symbol of blood sacrifice."
Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968)
My Question: “You were almost thrown out of your PhD studies for plagiarism – Why did you plagiarize throughout your life time – did you not have concepts of your own?”
Martin Luther King Jr. Quotes:
“All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality.”
“Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase.”
“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”
“Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.”
“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”
“I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.”
William Carlos Williams (Sept. 17, 1883 – March 4, 1963)
My Question: “What were your close friendships like to Ezra Pound and James Joyce while involved in the Imagist movement but soon you began to develop opinions that differed from those of your poetic peers, Ezra Pound and T. S. Eliot?”
William Carlos Williams Quotes:
“Poets are damned but they are not blind, they see with the eyes of the angels.”
“It is almost impossible to state what one in fact believes, because it is almost impossible to hold a belief and to define it at the same time.”
“There is something, something urgent I have to say to you and you alone but it must wait while I drink in
the joy of your approach, perhaps for the last time.”
“It was the love of love, the love that swallows up all else, a grateful love, a love of nature, of people,
of animals, a love engendering gentleness and goodness that moved me and that I saw in you.”
“Thus having prepared their buds against a sure winter the wise trees stand sleeping in the cold.”

What were you watching: very watchable, good pace. Will the title be "Go to Black" or "What were you watching" ? The text "go to black" came up right before "coming soon" so i thought maybe that's the title. anyway, cool to see your interest in the old media and the people still living who can recall the experience of having been there and seen that.

Hello and thank you for the documentary film clips...I think after viewing all three that I now have a clear insight into the heart behind the loving hands that created these little gems...pure gold. Minnesota's Greatest...Jimmy Durante was my childhood favorite and I cut my teeth on Lawrence Welk, Sunbeam Bread and Hamms Beer (a little later)...Da Family...one of the most touching pieces I have seen in a while about a much ignored aspect of pure Americana...The Trailer...smooth as silk pure Afro-American funk...I had to dance. Hoping to see you in November if possible...anywhere in Costa Rica that works. Keep in touch; Bless you and your work....Steve
