I'm a songwriter, musician and music publisher, with album credits on Ray Charles' "Genius & Friends" (a duet with John Legend), the Temptations Grammy-winning record "Ear-Resistable," and their Platinum CD "Phoenix Rising," among others. I've collaborated with many wonderful musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area over the years, and now find myself closer to Nashville in the Great Smoky Mountains. My CD — SHINE! — will be released AUGUST 30th and features a bunch of my Bay Area musician friends. It includes 10 of my own original rock-country songs and some amazing playing that I'm really proud to be a part of. The Taylor Brooks Band will be kicking off the release of SHINE! in the Bay Area in late August, and we will be adding show dates as they are confirmed. Check in here or on my website: www.taylorbrooksmusic.com for up-to-date info.
I got a copy of South Mississippi Living Magazine yesterday and one of the bands that was mentioned in Little Levi's article was Taylor Brooks. Remind me after these hurricanes to send you a copy. They distribute 14,000 free copies each month and are believed to have 56,000 readers :-)
Okay -- if you haven't seen it yet, may I recommend the movie "Once"? It is a sweet little nugget of a film, all about songwriting and music, and with some really fantastic songs to boot!
Fifteen minutes into the movie "Once," and I am so fucking pissed at Buddy Craig I can't stand it... Have you seen this movie? (Fifteen minutes into it, and it is already clearly great.) I want to tell Buddy to watch it. Fuck.
