Hello Everybody !!!
Welcome to my little home on myspace. I don't take myself very seriously, so I wont bore you to death with a bunch of BS. I am from Dallas Texas. I was born in 1982, which makes me 25 (which is gross). I moved to Austin when I was 18 to do music full time. A few years after that I got in my car and started playing shows all over the country. I have probably crashed on your couch or slept in my car at a truck stop by your town. I now live back in Dallas, but I still play shows everywhere. I have recorded 5 cds and I am about to start working on the 6th. I am a lifer. I will be making records and playing shows when i am 64, I just hope they are good. I really can't think of anything that I would rather do than play music. I hope you enjoy the tunes, and if you do I hope to see you soon!!!
TAYLOR DAVIS: Motel Songs
If you like Elvis Costello, Elliott Smith, Ryan Adams or warm fuzzy feelings you should check out "Motel Songs" by Taylor Davis.
OK, here's where I recommend music that you might like, because I can't help myself.
Matthew Sweet "Girlfriend" - didn't see him on your influences list - you'll love his harmonies – check out “Evangeline” since you’re from Texas :-) Velvet Crush “Teenage Symphonies to God” – sometime back-up band for Matthew Sweet, also great power pop Zolof The Rock and Roll Destroyer - local Philly band, emo w/a girl singer - great pop http://www. myspace. com/zoloftherockandrolldestroyer Dipsomaniacs - the band I used to play in - indie/alt/power pop/country http://www. myspace. com/dipsomaniacs Blank Pages - 60's-ish+90's-ish http://www. myspace. com/blankpagespop -- both bands on my friend's label, Face Down Records, which u should also check out - they've done a bunch of cool compilations including a tribute to The Replacements http://www. myspace. com/fdrlabel
If you're coming back to the East Coast, lemme know and maybe you could do a gig with my old band -- they play a lot of good bars in Philly, including World Cafe Live.
of course i'm still playing. i've acquired a mandolin since you've been in town, and that's fun.
allison isn't in charge of booking anymore, but i'm hot to get on that committee so yes, we shall see. i'm also trying to get rebecca pronsky, lucy wainwright roche (maybe the two of them together), and chris pureka to stop by.
