This is the Official MySpace for The Boogie Board, one of the early Taylor Hicks fan message boards.
Established June 22, 2006 in the wake of the first demise of GrayCharles' blog, The Boogie has grown to be one of the nicest and most fun places online for talking about Taylor Hicks, his band, and his music. It is a one-stop shop for audio, video, news, and any kind of information about Taylor.
Due to the close affiliation with GrayCharles (most, if not all, of the first members were "GC refugees"), we adopted his tagline - "It's All About the Music" - and we try to maintain that. That's not to say we never stray from the topic at hand. After all, "The Music" encompasses much more than mere notes and rhythms. ;)
Known as the "non-glitter" or "non-thudding" Board, we maintain a simple and easy to navigate site that even dial-up users can enjoy with little or no difficulty. You won't find flashing smilies, glittery banners, or moving avatars on The Boogie (not that those things aren't fun, but many people are turned off by them). For people in a hurry, this means pages load quickly and topics of interest are easily found.
In addition to Taylor, we have sections on The Board for Little Memphis Blues Orchestra, The Erin Mitchell Band, and various other artists. A new feature we will be kicking off November 5th is the Listening Party. Our inaugural party will include tunes from Charlie A'Court, a Canadian singer/songwriter in the Blues tradition. Charlie is even slated to join us (barring any last minute scheduling conflicts), so bring your good ears and think of some questions for the artist.
And when you're finished with all the music talk, we even have a section called "Etc." which encompasses pretty much anything else you want/need to discuss. There is an ongoing recipe thread and a daily "chat" thread just to get to know each other and stay connected. There is a myriad of topics in the Etc. forum.
Please come join us if you are so inclined. We love to meet new Taylor fans or music fans in general. The Boogie is full of "Music Junkies" - you just may find a new favorite artist if you're not too careful. :D
