Derek Kimberlin, better known as TBMA, is a rap artist currently residing in Sandusky, Ohio. TBMA got his name from the book Black Medicine. The title Black Medicine is a word play on "black magic." Just as white magic does good, and black magic specializes in evil, there is a white medicine which cures and a black kind of medical and anatomical knowledge that is used to produce injuries and death. Black medicine is the study of the "vital points" of human anatomy for the purpose of disrupting the structure and physiology of the body in the most rapid and deadly manner possible. Hence the name... The Black Medicine Artist.
TBMA started writing lyrics at the start of his no longer together rapcore band, MoKo. Moko blew up locally doing shows with Mushroomhead among others. After a few years when the band fell apart TBMA continued on his path solo. Joining forces with Enmity (now in toxsick)TBMA started the group Mass Kunfusion. His style has changed quite a bit since then. Mass Kunfusion was horrorcore and based lyrics on darkness. At the split of Mass Kunfusion TBMA again continued on.
TBMA's style has been called "out there" by some. Quick flow into slower raps with lyrics based on tall cans, women, and boasting. You will not hear any "bling bling" songs from TBMA. He is known for writing songs that he among others can relate to.....without sugar coating anything. Keeping it 100% real in his own style and quick wit.
TBMA is working on his fourth album "Lets Talk About It". His previous album "Black Medicine" has done very well locally and on the internet. His new album will be released late 2009 and will include a DVD of live footage and just kickin it with the BLP crew. All albums are available from Longrange Distribution.
