The Company Acting Studio's Blurbs |
About me:
I am Lisina Stoneburner, the founder and Co-Director of The Company Acting Studio.I came to Atlanta as sort of a stop on the way, never really intending to stay put. Born and raised in New York City, I lived and worked in New York, Boston, Seattle and Los Angeles before traveling to Atlanta to see the city and indulge in its theatre scene. I love theatre communities, the people, the venues, the seasons, the atmosphere. So I spent time learning the communities our country had to offer and hoped to work a little bit in as many of them as interested me before one day settling down in one.
Before making the journey to Atlanta, I built a resume of technical production in theatres from Boston to Seattle after committing my childhood and early adulthood to conservatory training programs. My upbringing was unique to say the least and I spent much of my early childhood years in the wings of theatres and listening to great actors perform in my Grandmother’s living room at dinner parties. Our family was dear friends with the great Stella Adler, with whom my Grandmother had a cherished friendship. At age 11, I expressed my desire to act and after some long hours of trying to convince me otherwise, my mother made the decision that if this is what I truly wanted I would train for it until I was grown and ready to work. So at the age of 12, I entered The Stella Adler Conservatory, from there I trained privately with Pearl Pearson, Stella’s niece and one of the conservatory teachers, then I went onto The School of Performing Arts (the “Fame” school) and then onto Boston University’s School of Theatre Arts. I am committed today to the training of this craft and the need for strong and educated arts teachers in every community.
I come from immigrant blood from Sicily on my father's side and show-business blood on my mother's. Her father, Arnold Manoff, was a writer in Hollywood in the 40's and 50's. My aunt is Dinah Manoff from Grease, Empty Nest, and Broadway's I Ought to be in Pictures for which she won a Tony.
I started the school 10 years ago in Atlanta and it's modeled after Performing Arts High School in NY.
I'm proud of all of my students, they are the hardest working actors in the Southeast!! We've seen successes from Broadway to Feature Films to television. I am grateful to be a part of their lives and to be able to work with the talented people I have.
I love actors, I respect the work and the craft and I strive to teach people the right and legitimate process of our industry, because there are so many scams and cons out there just preying on people.
I have the best job in the world. People trust me everyday with their hearts and their souls and I get to indulge in the exploration of the human condition through great material and extremely talented artists. There is nothing like it.
I'll blog about my thoughts and opinions about the industry more.
