The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it's the same problem you had last year. Do not complain about what you permit!

Martial Arts, I hold a 3rd degree black belt on Kuk Sool Won a Korean martial art. I also practice Qi Gong, and some Tai chi both Yang and Wu styles. I was an avid weight lifter in my youth. I have now enough injuries that lifting heavy weights is not a pleasant experience anymore. But I still work on my flexibility and muscle tone.

Who is Roberto?
I am a Licensed Acupuncturist and a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with a practice in San Antonio, Texas. I am happily married to Carmen, my wife of 24 years. We have three children William, Mark and Joey, 21,19 and 12 years old.
I grew up on the poor side of a municipality of Guadalupe right next to Monterry Nuevo Leon Mexico. When I was a kid, I didn’t know I was from the wrong side of the tracks until I became a teenager, and the people from the Colonia next to ours, would call the police if more than one of us hang around their neighborhood, and we were even asked not to walk through a certain street because people like us couldn’t be trusted. All that kind of discrimination did to me was, first of all make me angry, and second give me a very strong will to succeed. I did not know how, but I was going to be better that those that looked down on me.
When my father decided to come to the United States, I had mix feeling I didn’t want to leave my friends behind but at the same time I was coming to the land of opportunity. My father had come first and then he applied for the rest of the family to come. Since, I am the oldest in my family he had taught me how to be a Watchmaker, that was his profession, and I could have stayed and supported myself. After all, I was already 18 years old. But I decided to come with the rest of my family, my mom, dad, little brother and three sisters.
I still remember, one of our cousins picked us up before dawn from the Laredo, Texas border. We arrived to San Antonio around 7:00 a.m. I had fallen a sleep, and when I woke up we were driving through a southwest side neighborhood of San Antonio. I thought to myself, “now I have arrived”. My dad had rented a small two bedroom one bathroom home on the west side of town. But it was like a palace to me. The first night there we slept on the floor all together under a bunch of blankets we borrowed from my aunt, because it was an especially cold day, a rarity in San Antonio, and we didn’t have any beds yet.
I got lucky and my father had found a job for me even before we came, so a week later I had a job making $3.79 hour. I started to work full time and went to night school full time. First to learn English, and then continued with my studies.
At the end of four and a half years I was the manager of the store I started working at as a watchmaker, had Bachelor Degree in Psychology, owned my own house, was married to Carmen and we had a 6 month old little boy named William. Then Carmen and I decided we wanted to make enough money so that she could stay home and be a mom and give our son all the time he needed. I started my own watch service center from the back of our house, and we did very well for the next couple years. But in the late 80’s everything started to change, a lot of my customers closed their doors, and because of my lack of business experience we started to lose everything, house, cars, credit. On top of that someone broke into our house and robbed us clean.
After that, I got a couple jobs, moved into an apartment, bought an old car for $300.00 and we started all over again. One of those jobs was with A.L. Williams (now Primerica), and I tried build and organization but failed, because I got to hung up on selling insurance. By this time we had another baby, Mark. So I kept on trucking.
Late in 1990 I got the chance to buy the equipment necessary to open another shop. This time I thought, “I’ll do it retail”. I can increase my profit and work less, and on top of that I can also sell some jewelry. We owned our own jewelry/watch repair shop for four years, before we had to close. I went back into the wholesale repair business, but with a lot more experience.
During the mid 90’s I got involved in martial arts. My wife says that I got everybody in our family involved. I joined a martial arts school signed up all of us for classes. Everybody in our house is a black belt, but I was the only one that pursued it further, and even taught it for a while. It was during this time that I injured my back, and after not getting relief from western medicine, I tried a few acupuncture treatments and that helped me. From that experience I got interested in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In 2003 I started to commute between San Antonio and Austin, where I received my training in Acupuncture. I graduated in 2006 and open my clinic on the same year. I am treating about 35 patients per week, and loving every minute of it.
But at 35 patients per week I am not making much of a dent on the need that exist out there. I am working on reaching more people. There is a lot of misinformation, and the public needs to be informed.
There is so much that can be achieved, health wise, by just making minor changes in our daily habits. There is so much unnecessary pain, unhappiness, misery, and it does not have to be that way. I tell my patients that what I do is to give them the power back, the power to regain their health, the power of knowledge. If you know what is wrong with you, and that there is something that you can do to change it. Why wouldn’t you? Some people choose to do nothing, and that is Ok too, it is their choice, but they cannot say that they are powerless any more. If I told you that you don’t have to live with pain, or that if you are a woman you don’t have to suffer with cramps, or PMS, that you don’t have to live with allergies. Do you care? And are you willing to do something about it?
It is very rewarding to see people’s health improve, or to see them stop their dependence on medication just to function.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone that likes to take charge of their own health, that is seeking longevity, and who wants to learn how to maintain their good health through natural means.
It is Ok to be afraid of needles. My goal is to help people to live longer healthier lives.
I also like to meet those that are not afraid to be different and want to improve their lives for the better. Those like myself that are willing to work hard for a nice reward or a higher goal. Especially if you are helping others achieve their goals, and improve their lives.
I want to meet ambitious, creative, positive people. People with that entrepreneurial spirit, who want to learn, and/or even teach me. If you are coachable, passionate, confident, & intelligent, contact me. I like to meet all those who are focused & determined to be successful.
I am looking for those that want to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others, who are willing do what it takes to increase their personal value and are not looking for handouts. I am looking for those that seek knowledge and continue to grow in their personal and business lives everyday.
I have learned a long time ago that attitude is everything and I want to meet those with a positive attitude whether young or old, male or female. Those that despite life’s twist and turns still have faith and know that all they need is an honest chance at something big.
I am not looking for skeptics, whiners, complainers, nay-sayers,the broke minded, the quitters, and those who have already given up on life.
