So a little about me:
I like sports, namely Hockey and Baseball. Football used to be king but the salary cap messed that league all up. I also like politics, perhaps to the point of driving me crazy - I think I should ween myself off of that. I like to write - used to be essays, short stories, jokes, poetry and what not, but I have found myself writing more and more about (here's that crazy word again, politics).
Favorite music (no particular order of significance):
Classic Rock - Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkel, Led Zeppelin, CCR, etc ...
Punk - The Ramones, Misfits, The Clash, Pennywise, etc ...
Alternative - Primal Scream, Inspiral Carpets, OMD, Rage Against The Machine, etc ...
Industrial - Front 242, Frontline Assembly, Ministry, KMFDM, Lords of Acid, etc ...
Techno/Trance/Ambient - Moby, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, DJ Keoki, Orbital, etc ...
Retro - Pretty much all 80's
Big Band/Swing - Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Benny Goodman, etc ...
Favorite Movies:
A Few Good Men
Braveheart
Snatch
Van Wilder
Full Metal Jacket
Band Of Brothers
Kingdom of Heaven
Favorite Hockey Team:
Dallas Stars
Favorite Baseball Team:
Texas Rangers
Favorite Football Team:
Dallas Cowboys
Favorite Basketball Team:
Dallas Mavericks (surprise surprise)
One of my all time lyrics:
Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage .... (Pink Floyd)
“We forego sanctions of all kinds, even obligations to morality. We are not afraid to say, ‘Do what you will; act as you will’; because we are persuaded that the great majority of mankind, in proportion to their degree of enlightenment and the completeness they free themselves from existing fetters, will behave and act always in a direction useful to society, just as we are persuaded beforehand that a child will one day walk on its two feet and not on all fours simply because it is born of parents belonging to the genus Homo.” ~ Peter Kropotkin
"Everybody's worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there's a really easy way: stop participating in it." ~ Noam Chomsky
"I have often thought that if a rational Fascist dictatorship were to exist, then it would choose the American system." ~ Noam Chomsky
"If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all." ~ Noam Chomsky
"Personally, I'm in favor of democracy, which means that the central institutions of society have to be under popular control. Now, under capitalism, we can't have democracy by definition. Capitalism is a system in which the central institutions of society are in principle under autocratic control." ~ Noam Chomsky
"If those in charge of our society - politicians, corporate executives, and owners of press and television - can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets. We will control ourselves." ~ Howard Zinn
"There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people." ~ Howard Zinn
"We need to decide that we will not go to war, whatever reason is conjured up by the politicians or the media, because war in our time is always indiscriminate, a war against innocents, a war against children." ~ Howard Zinn
"When people don't understand that the government doesn't have their interests in mind, they're more susceptible to go to war." ~ Howard Zinn
"I have no country to fight for; my country is the earth, and I am a citizen of the world." ~ Eugene V. Debs
"I love America more than any other country in this world, and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually." ~ James A. Baldwin
