i'm a fan of hip-hop doing different things and evolving. i'm also a fan of classic tried and true material. lupe's "the cool" was, in my opinion, a work of art as opposed to an album. his storytelling abilities, along with cassidy's, are something i admire. hov is the greatest in my opinion and no argument with a hov hater is gonna change it. he's got a swagger that nobody can replicate. he's humble, yet confident. he's the same guy who refuses to talk about being married to beyonce that turns around and says "got the hottest chick in the game wearin my chain".
i also respect kanye. his drive and work ethic are unmatched. in all of his songs, some more than others, you can hear it, how he gives every verse his all. listen to last call, bring me down, homecoming, champion. he writes every verse like its his last.
