Niamh Hyland @ Parkside Lounge
I finally got a chance to see my friend, Niamh Hyland (pronounced “Neve”) sing last night. I knew she was very talented and had a deep, bluesy voice. I knew because I have heard her start singing along to music in a bar once. But, seeing her perform on stage was great. She’s a skinny white Irish girl with a big black soulful voice.

NY based vocalist Niamh Hyland is a singer/songwriter with a lot to say. With influences ranging from Melissa Etheridge, to Aretha, to Alice in Chains, Niamh pitches a perfect mix of infectious melodies, prolific lyrics and raw emotions. Her fusion of melodic rock, soulful tones and a splash of folk creates a blended sound that touches the spirit. ” My goal is to be diverse and not inhibited by the boundaries of a specific type/genre of music”
Born and raised on the west coast of Ireland, Niamh got her first taste of singing at a very early age and has not stopped performing since.
Following her graduation from UCD, Niamh moved to NYC to fully dedicate herself to music. Moving yielded many several music-making partners including collaborating with four time grammy nominated songwriter and producer Larry Dvoskin, who has worked with artists such as David Bowie, the Beach Boys, Brandy and so on.
Niamh continues to work on her first solo album.
