The Winding Stair Bookshop is to host an exhibition of new paintings and drawings and other things by award winning Artist/Illustartor Alan Clarke. To let even one of your eyeballs alight it's gaze on one of Mr. Clarke's images is to enter a world of eerie magic and black humour. A place of coherent strangenesses and skillfully executed absurdities, where mermaids lie drunk on the seabed and ice-cream is mined directly from the clouds. Be beguiled!!

"In June 2006, Germaine Greer was a guest on Miriam O'Callaghan`s Chat Show which is aired in Ireland on RTÉ. Daniel O'Donnell was also guest on the show. In a heated outburst O`Donnell accused Greer of ridiculing him behind his back. Trouble arose when Daniel was asked about his wife`s cooking skills. He diplomatically responded that cooking wasn`t one of his wife`s strong points, adding that he was a big fan of his mother`s pancakes. During the interval, an unimpressed Greer took him to task, insisting that it`s not too difficult to make pancakes. Daniel hit back by retorting: "Well Germaine, your pancakes may be a bit bitter" prompting laughter from the audience. But the light-hearted atmosphere turned sour once the interview resumed, as Greer made her feelings towards Daniel all too obvious. Daniel spoke about his relationship with his wife Majella and how he had discovered she was Ms Right. While Daniel was talking, Greer started to make faces behind his back to show how disgusted she was with his Mr Nice Guy image. But Daniel could see everything on the monitor so he turned around and asked her: Do you have a problem with what I`m saying? The interview continued with Daniel discussing his split from his then girlfriend Majella and his realisation that he missed her and wanted to marry her. Behind him, Greer continued to show her disapproval, by wrinking her nose in disgust. Daniel again asked her "Do you find what I`m saying funny?" When the interview concluded, Daniel performed a song. When the song was finished, Daniel posed for a group picture with Lulu, Greer and the talk show host Miriam O`Callaghan. He leaned across to Greer in an effort to show that he didn`t harbour any grudges against her. Greer appeared to be quite bemused by the gesture and afterwards declared: "He touched me at the end. It was awful"
