.. JUDGING A BOOK an open exhibition of Artists' Books
'Every book is a work of art' .......so think we at The Winding Stair, and thus we are inviting Artists, Designers and Craftsfolk of any discipline to submit their artwork for selection for an exhibition of artists' books. Media, size and subject are completely at the discretion of the artist, the only restriction is that it must be realised in the form of a book.
Entry is free, and the closing date for submission is the 10th of September. A selection of submissions as chosen by a judging panel will be exhibited in the bookshop as part of Culture Night on the 19th of September.
There is a prize fund of €2000, with an overall winner receiving €1500 and 2 runners up being awarded vouchers worth €250 for The Winding Stair Bookshop.
The Winding Stair Bookshop is to host an exhibition of new paintings and drawings and other things by award winning Artist/Illustartor Alan Clarke. To let even one of your eyeballs alight it's gaze on one of Mr. Clarke's images is to enter a world of eerie magic and black humour. A place of coherent strangenesses and skillfully executed absurdities, where mermaids lie drunk on the seabed and ice-cream is mined directly from the clouds. Be beguiled!!
The exhibition open on Thursday 17th july at 6 pm. The work will be on view daily thereafter. All welcome. The Winding Stair is located at 40, Lr. Ormond Quay, Dublin 1
