"You don’t get to hear a band like Falconetti very often. From first EP Oceanography to the latest Finisterre EP, they’re creating a massively spacious sound for themselves and anyone else who cares to listen. We could wheel out the old ’sonic cathedrals’ line, but frankly that wouldn’t do ’em justice. They really have to be heard to be appreciated." - bbc.co.uk
Latest 3-track EP, released August 2007. Tracks: Finisterre, Straits of Messina and Magna Via.
Features vocals by Emma Adams, programming by Tetchi, plus cellist Christopher Bryenton and violinist Katherine Betteridge.
“Elegant soundscapes, dreamy and atmospheric: an exercise in expansion and resolution. Beautifully accompanied by singing voice, trumpet or strings, it walks that fine line between playfulness and weird drone. This music has clarity, purity and intelligence - the filmic quality leaves you wondering what great images went with the sound and if they were as good as those in my head.” - Sophie Kemp, Sandman Magazine
“There’s enough grace, sinew and primeval mass here to deserve being the main thing in your brain. ’Straits of Messina’ is a soundscape of strings and backgrounded guitars, until an uplifting sunrise-like passage of trumpet concerto shoots a bright ray in the direction of Miles Davis’s Spain. ’Magna Via’ is beautiful and moving - and plays the biggest geographical trick: it refers not to something in the heart of the Roman Empire, but to Falconetti’s own heartland and surrounding wildernesses. A firm statement of how there’s some impressive territory nearer than you’d think, and in far greater quantity than you’d imagine. 8/10” - John Hepworth, Leeds Music Scene
"A Falconetti track is to your standard single release what Da Vinci’s Michelangelo is to a set of Handy Andy’s MDF shelves. Every note is hewn from pure musical marble, perfect and pristine. Maybe now Falconetti will finally be appreciated for the jewel that they undoubtedly are." - Tasty Fanzine
"Magna Via is a great journey across landscapes of lovely reverb cliffs and lakes of delay … delicious repetitive bass lines … truly outstanding production. I was blown away, moved by the strings in Straits of Messina. It’s all fantastic. This EP is a triumph." - Mono Magazine
"Welcome to a world that is strangely familiar - one that is hard to escape while living in this city, yet one that is rarely as well expressed by artists, musicians and writers as it is by Falconetti. This can be confirmed with one hearing of the opening track of their latest EP, Finisterre. Falconetti have forged a path through the thistle-packed path of "post-rock" and have come out somewhere on the other side few knew existed." - James Rush, Bradford T&A
Available from the following record shops:
Revo (Halifax)
Jumbo (Leeds)
Crash (Leeds).
Debut 3-track EP, released 2004. Tracks: Oceanography, Kino and Body of Water.
"This is an exciting and brave start avoiding all things current and "angular", cutting a path where only a few before have dared to tread." - Richard Garnett, Leeds Music Scene
"...fantastically HUGE and strangely moving..."

This tune will make you get up and go and move you forword to a positive state of mind. www.myspace.com/houseofriddim Jamie, here's my HONEST opinion & comments.... "Words can be so simple...Actions..." YES, but MUSIC also speaks louder than words....& thats EXACTLY what this tune does. From the intro chants of "LION....LION!", you get the feeling of positivity & strength from the word GO! The bubbling riddim track is met with uplifting vocal vibes from Mr Irie. A tune aimed at those who talk 'round di ting' & don't seem to put talk into motion, this song hits the spot. A vibesy tune to fill the air with as much punc

Hauschka Having studied classical piano for ten years, Dusseldorf-based pianist/composer Volker Bertelmann's work as Hauschka is based upon a playful exploration of the possibilities of the 'prepared' piano. His resulting tracks are vivid, unconventional pieces made in a spirit of playful research-enthusiasm, which he's taken around the world - in the USA with Múm, in Japan with Colleen, and a debut, sold-out London show with Max Richter. Hauschka's music is a thing of beauty - intertwined melodies and rythyms that flit between gorgeously lush and complex and stunning minimalism.
Gareth S. Brown With influences as diverse as Eastern European folk music, funeral marches and jewellery boxes, Gareth creates gorgeous work of layered beauty with nods towards Philip Glass, Terry Riley and Michael Nyman as well as latter day travellers such as Max Richter, Yann Tiersen and Aphex Twin.

Sunday Funday is the not-for-profit inaugural post-clubbing chill-out monthly sunday evening event mixing live acts, DJs, dance, spoken word and circus in a student-friendly Bradford arty city centre venue. Translocating the summer festival vibe into the Love Apple Café Bar (near the Alhambra Theatre - see the map on our MySpace), action packed with all the fun of the fair, Sunday Funday is a great excuse to ditch the crap sunday night telly, and party with no stress. Open-minded, multi-cultural, multi-genre, you'll hear just about anything at our gigs. Whether it's funk, punk, reggae, hip hop, house, techno, dub, breaks, meaningful accoustic sets, or bitesized chunks of world music, we're down with all chilled-out vibes.
To reduce our carbon footprint, we showcase local acts as possible, giving maximum exposure to the stars of tomorrow, in conjunction with Fresh Milk (the Wild West Yorkshire music facilitators), we're helping new artists gain grass roots exposure. On the Sunday October the 5th bill, there's Freyed Knot headlining, plus Divine Shakras, Harris, DJ Shi'me, DJ Immi, Flloyd de Sousa, Meats, and many, many more. This time there's breakdance crew the Soul Monkeys, and future performances will include belly dance and burlesque, and live performance art. Entry is always a mere £3, with beer/lager/real ale at £2 a pint, and fresh veggie and meat hot dogs to keep thirst and hunger under check. There's no dress code, fancy dress optional but welcome.
We're not funded or sponsored in any way, and rely on the kindness and generosity of our able volunteers, so if you want Sunday Funday to suceed, show your support by turning up at the Love Apple carnival between 5 and 11pm and having one hell of a good time. Turn up, tune in, and chill!!!
