Jeremy once was a spunky little boy, he loved to play basketball, gymnastics, taekwondo, and kidding around with his little brother. He grew to a young man who enjoyed painting, drawing, and he wanted to write a biography, movie scripts, (he did write some cartoon scripts) and he was in the process of writing a personal collection of 30 poems to publish; there wasn’t much he couldn’t do….
He enjoyed photography and modeling – from eccentric to church boy – he had a real talent!! At one time wanted to go to Guyana for the summer to do missionary work but was too young. A promising future was his for the taking.
But one night everything changed….this young man’s dreams are just distant memories now….Jeremy is a Hypoxic Brain Injury (HBI) survivor. He is totally dependent on his family, friends, and medical team to care for him.
Jeremy is in need of many things to improve the quality of life for him. His mother, works full time, takes care of her son while raising another 17 year old, this can really take a toll on her. She has no free time to organize a huge fundraiser, but yet has a great need for one. The family is in the process of trying to obtain a Quadriciser for Jeremy. Can be seen here: http://www.quadriciser.com/
Please read what Jeremy’s mom had to say about his experience on it:
I took off today to take Jeremy to try out a Quadriciser machine. We started out slow with legs and then added each arm eventually. He was so relaxed after being on it an hour and his hand opened up more.
While he was on it we held up pieces of paper with words on it he has said shortly after his brain injury occurred. He didn’t say anything until we got him back in the wheelchair and we were talking with Larry Bohanan, the inventor.
Debbie kept telling him if he wanted to go home to tell us. He finally said it softly but you could hear it and read his lips. "Home" This is the first word he has spoken in a year!
The cost is over $16,000, and without insurance helping with the cost, the end goal is overwhelming to her. Yes, he does have insurance, but she has to fight tooth and nail to get the nursing care and therapy he needs to help him relearn everything. If anyone has ever had to fight insurance for anything, I think you would understand what she is up against.
