Mandi Leigh Inks Soundtrack Deal with Warner Brothers / Polychrome
Los Angeles – Recording artist Mandi Leigh has signed a feature film soundtrack deal with Polyphonic Records with distribution through Warner Brothers / Polychrome Pictures.
Mandi will contribute to the soundtrack of the critically acclaimed film, “The Utopian Society,” about a diverse group of college students thrown together on a final project to create a Utopian society on paper.
The film comes off of a successful film festival run where it collected an array of awards including: Best Director (Honolulu International), Best Comedy/Drama (DIY Film Festival and Rad Digital Film Festival – Los Angeles; DV Awards, Utah), and Best Feature (Key West Indiefest), among other awards and nominations.
The film also features a talented, up-and-coming cast, including Austin Nichols (TV’s “John from Cincinnati”, “The Day After Tomorrow”) and Malin Akerman, one of FHM Magazine’s “100 Sexiest Women in the World 2006” (imdb.com).
Mandi Leigh’s track, “No Longer in Love,” will be released on the film’s soundtrack along-side the DVD release in January 2008, available in all music retailers nationwide.
Music from the soundtrack will also be made available worldwide via all major internet music portals.
On the footsteps of the film/soundtrack release will be Mandi Leigh’s debut pop album, also arriving in stores in early 2008.

Team Mandi Leigh: Welcome Paul! You’ve been busy! We heard you starred with Miss Britney Spears in a video, opened for Jesse McCartney and Nina Sky with Mandi Leigh, as well as dancing in many musicals since we spoke to you last! Catch us up a bit..
Paul Romero: I definitely have been doing a ton more musical theatre and industrials. In the past year, I got to do my favorite show, CATS, which was the reason I ever started dancing, SWING! the musical, Phantom (with a little southern California tour), Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, I got to do an industrial in Texas for the toy company Mattel, among a few other industrials. I also got to dance in a video for Triniti which was an awesome experience, did a little dance spot on a TV show and most recently I just did the Broadway Cares AIDS Benefit at the ford theatre in Hollywood. The show was Chess (the musical) in Concert and has been my best show to date. I got to work with so many amazing Broadway people and some very talented performers that were hired from both LA and NYC.
TML: What are your current projects?
PR: Currently, I am assisting a choreographer, Dana Solimondo on a few shows around the LA and Orange County area. I actually just agreed to do some more work with her out of town in the coming months and year. Dana is an amazing friend/choreographer who I got to work with on both CATS and SWING!
TML: Some of us remember your mom calling in on the L.A. radio interview you sat in on with Mandi, has your family always been that supportive? PR: Definitely! I've been very blessed to have a family that not only made sacrifices in order for me to get the training that I have, but have also attended almost every major performance that I've ever done. My mom especially, flies from Colorado atleast 2 to 3 times a year to come show her support.
TML: We heard you may be touring with Mandi soon.. Any truth to this rumor?
PR: I for sure will be a part of the tour with Mandi starting at the beginning of the year. I'm definitely looking forward to it. It's a big dream for both of us, her as a recording artist, and me as a choreographer/dancer.
TML: Last time you spoke to Team Mandi Leigh, Damita Jo and Wicked were in your CD player.. What’s in there right now?
PR: Ummm... Timbaland's CD, Spring Awakening, and Legally Blonde the musical.
TML: Do you have any special warm - up’s or traditions you perform before you step out on stage?
PR: I like to warm-up, stretch and focus myself a little, and then I say a little prayer thanking God for my opportunities.
TML: What different styles or surprises can we expect in your shows with Mandi in 2008?
PR: It's kind of up in the air right now. I would definitely like to show some styles that the fans have never seen from me before. We are still debating on the choreography for a couple of the songs, but I'm really excited to take on this task and finally get to tour with one of my best friends.
TML: When you last spoke of your largest accomplishments, you listed dancing in ‘Be Cool’. Have there been any additional film or television roles? And is that an avenue you want to pursue?
PR: I got the chance to film a little dance spot with about 15 other male dancers for a new ABC series called Eli Stone. That was a great accomplishment for me aswell and a ton of fun. Film and TV is definitely an avenue that I want to pursue, but right now, I'm kind of want to fulfill my dreams of dancing and performing in live theatre and specifically, Broadway.
TML: We have some questions that fans had submitted.
TML: Dave from New York asks: Hi Paul! If I wanted to dance on Mandi’s team, what would I have to do?
PR: I would keep checking the website for an upcoming audition. We are going to be holding auditions soon for the upcoming tour and future performances. The dates are not yet decided so keep checking in.
TML: Lindsey from California asks: Can you explain a day on tour or at a show with Mandi?
PR: It's usually pretty hectic. Some times we'll rehearse for a couple of hours, make sure all the costumes are in order, get dressed up if it's a big event, try to fit in some food a few times through out the day, and either head over or have someone pick us up so we can try and relax a bit. Once we are in the venue, it's a little more laid back for me. I get to warm-up and review and wait for someone to come and get us to perform. Then we usually like to go out after and have fun if we're not to exhausted.
TML: Tina from Ohio asks: What was it really like working with Britney Spears?
PR: It was an awesome experience. It was the first video that I had ever done, and it was my birthday so I was kind of in a zone the whole day. I just remember that some of the people on the set kept complaining because you have to do everything over and over, and I remember being so excited to be doing it over and over. I felt like a 5 year old on Christmas. It was by far a mile stone of my career.
TML: Jared from Utah asks: What has it been like working with Mandi? And at a show, what songs of hers do you choreograph on?
PR: It has been nothing but fun and very fulfilling as an artist to be working with Mandi. After my first show with Mandi, over 3 years ago, we immediately became great friends and it feels great to be a part of this whole team, achieving some of my own dreams and goals while one of my best friends is on the rise and becoming a successful recording artist.
Just over a year ago, I took over as the head choreographer and have since, changed a lot of the old choreography to fit, what I feel the songs are about. We've also hired newer dancers, and some have moved on, but the older choreography that worked for some wasn't necessarily the best choreography to showcase the newer dancers' talents. My first job as Mandi's choreographer was to choreograph "Wrapped Around My Finger" and a couple of intro/interludes for the show. Right now I'm working on choreography for the upcoming tour which will all be my original choreography.
