"Stuntin' is a habit/ I let 'em see the carats/ But, I ain't messin' with Bugs Bunny, you dummies/ That money get to fallin' out the pocket/ And the girls get to clockin'/ That's where everything starts, and it ain't stoppin'." Tashan "Metafore" Turner steps back from the mike and smiles at his lyrics. At 19, Metafore is more than a young rapper living in a cramped apartment in Liberty; he's a rising star with a music video on MTV and a record playing on top 40 stations in Florida, Michigan, and Georgia. "At this point, it's way past major developments," he said. "I'm close to making it. The only thing left is a record deal." Interscope, Universal and Geffen record labels have all met with Metafore, but there's been no deals signed yet. Metafore, a graduate of Liberty High School, began rapping in the fifth grade. Shifting between houses in Hollywood, Fla. and Sullivan County, he would rhyme with friends, and he became known for using twists of phrase — hence the rap name. "I didn't spell 'Metafore' the right way because this is hip-hop, ya know?" While working at an insurance company in Florida, Metafore's mother, Doreen, took his music to a co-worker with connections to the music business. Becca Reshefsky recognized Metafore's lyrical skills, and she's managed him ever since. "It's kind of funny," she said. "A Jewish girl from Boca Raton paired up with a hip-hop kid."
