This is a memorial site to the Detroit cyber-metal band My Favorite Plaid StraightJacket (MFPS). It is administered by by the group's bass player and co-founding member Scott L. Please feel free to contact him if you have any questions, comments, or stuff you may like to submit to this page.

****Excerpt From Original Press Bio From 2004-2005****

My Favorite Plaid StraightJacket (MFPS) was formed on New Years eve of 2000 by guitarist Alex Clem and and bass guitarist Scott Lambert (Scott L.), two long time friends who had a dream of creating a battering-ram of musical melody and brutality. Alex garnered the bulk of his live and studio experience being part the long time running Detroit speed metal band Bludshot in the late 80's. Another long time friend by the name of James Sawyer was recruited to take the lead vocal position in the band. James Sawyer is remembered most notably for his work in the seminal death metal band Subsidence. James, in turn, brought in Jazz trained percussionist Scott Bienkowski (Scott B.) to try out as the bands drummer, he was the first and last person who tried out. Writing commenced immediately, with ideas flowing between the current four members of the band constantly. There was something missing though. The decision was made to bring in someone who could stand alone and create digital noise, sampling, and looping under the, what was already culminating into, frantic musical fury the young band was creating. Enter David Wenner, The Rabbit Killer.

Six months of intensive rehearsing began, the house rumbled on its foundation, neighbors peeked out their windows. Everyone in the band, and everyone around them new something magical was taking place. The look in their eyes as they picked up their instruments, the grins on their faces as they played, people knew they were having fun, but none of them looked sane.

At the end of the six month prep, the live shows began. With each one becoming more intense and out of control, people began to notice that the members were not just playing their instruments, they seemed to be abusing themselves, and coming completely unwound for the 30 to 40 minutes they showcased their music. They were not just there to play, they were on a mission. Recording commenced, intense sweaty sessions of fury being captured on tape for a release in October of 2003 entitled Homicidal Rantings. The gruff and metallic, yet high-tech industrial sound, combined with the slick R&B production from Alex Morris and engineer Todd Faral makes Homicidal Rantings a warm and smooth, yet brutal and punishing piece of work.

Thanks for being a friend. It's really awesome.

I can't wait to get the CD done and do some shows where I can hopefully meet some of you.

I wish I had a time machine and could blast forward and start doing shows tomorrow.

PS. TWO GUITAR PLAYERS WANTED... Make That One Now!!!

The new material we are working on will have a guitarmony sound and will require three players. We are looking for one player who lives in the Detroit Metro area.

What we are looking for:

1. Age 18 to 27
2. Must be a great player.
3. Studio and Live experience a plus.
4. Style of music is pop/rock/alternative/punk
5. Style is a cross between 30 Seconds To Mars, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Muse, Garbage, and The Used with strong commercial appeal.
6. Lead or Backing vocal capabilities a plus.
7. Ability to write guitar parts for existing melody lines.
8. Must have time to make a commitment and be available for studio and live shows. Currently rehearsals are scheduled on Sunday between 1:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.
9. Will require learning a certain amount of filler cover material.
10. If you have drug or alcohol related issues this probably wouldn't work for you.

A label showcase is scheduled for late February - so time is of the essence.

If you or someone you know is what we are looking for. Please let me know so we can set up a studio audition.
