Good old Hip Hop, the way its suppose to. Reality talk from the SE side of london.
Cakes, Big Cakes to those who don't know him personally is a highly energetic artist with what some may call a distorted vision on the world around him. His perception and deception of his environment through his power of speech, results in a resonating statement that is impossible to ignore. His unique style and approach to his music, helps to distinguish him from any other artist currently circulating on the UK hip hop scene. Landing with a thump 'Keep It Moving' is simply a collection of some seriously banging tracks. Each track has its own flavour and touches on a varied collection of subjects that we as listeners can relate to. Cakes delivery is equally as impressive, as his truly British sound is refreshing and adds to subject matter. Intoxicating is a good word, yet contagious is more appropriate when describing cakes. 'Keep It Moving' has been recorded mainly as a personal statement to Cakes himself, as he feels it is indeed the right time for the rest of the UK to pay homage to what he calls the realness of hip hop. He continues to say "I feel if everything else fails. the album must be completed, i.e. keep it moving. This is because it's expected of me even though I have to make it during the hardest times, under the harshest of conditions.' The first single (current underground banger) is entitled 'Rhymes Speak' and from the first word you immediately adhere to the cakes style. Definately packs a punch. The album has benefited from a collection of ddifferent producers working on the project. These include some of the UK's most revered up and coming producers, The Ellementz, Nutty P and Iron Ryan. Their input has helped make this a truly eclectic collection of music. Other tracks include 'Holla At The Girls' which is already proving to be a favourite amongst the lucky few who have listened to it and 'Straight Of The Endz', which were all produced by Nutty P. 'Never Had Time' comes courtesy of The Ellementz based up there in Notingham and is arguably the biggest track on the EP. As Cakes has nicely put it "Influences - from everywhere basically. I'm into all forms of music." This unlimited willingness to experiment as well as the diverse beats further enhances the EP. Since the birth of his daughter Cakes has had an even bigger incentive and thrust to keep it real and keep it moving. Cakes has also been working with a number of artists and featuring on a vast amount of projects around the UK including: MoveMakers, Pound Sterling, Stuff Mixtapes, NGU Records (Dap C 'Eyes Of Man'). The Mr Kipling 'Exceedingly Good Cakes Mixtape' dropped in the summer of 2004 and was a huge hit.
