To describe the last 6 months for Team Waterpolo as a whirlwind would be an understatement; A category five hurricane would probably be closer to the truth. It started with a chance rendezvous of three old school friends in July 2007, all sharing a desire to get back to what they did as teenagers: playing around in a band. From this initial meeting the off kilter pop gem Letting Go was created and having only a limited amount of equipment the band decided the best way to be heard was to post the song on that modern Mecca of music, Myspace. What followed was a snowball effect of unstoppable progress; the featured artist spot on Myspace Music, a giddy response from listeners causing everyone who is anyone in the music industry to take notice, slews of gig offers coming their way that eventually led to their recent tour with Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, plays on Radio 1 and Xfm, write ups in the NME, tips for success from local and national press and an upcoming single release on Moshi Moshi Records. All this hype and attention wouldn’t mean much if the music wasn’t up to scratch, but it is backed up by an invigorating and fresh sound that is a rarity in the current music scene. A sound that is an amalgam of a wide spectrum of influences; there is hip hop, dance, punk, indie, new wave, and a lot of pop. The music does not take itself too seriously but still manages to sound rich and inspired. Team Waterpolo are a party for your feet, ears and brain all at once. So where to next? Well, armed with an arsenal of such killer tunes (with the promise of more to come), all the right people on their side, devoted fans and the gods of fortune smiling on them, the ball is firmly in their court…sorry, pool.
Hey Guys Think your music is really good, a real influence for me and my songwriting, come up to newcastle at some point. be great to see you live :D. Hope theres an album in the near future! All the best - Miles
Hey Guys (:, saw you at assembly ages ago and then supporting wombats, and i have to say... I'm a fan! :D You playing anywhere near Lancaster soon? I want to Kendal Calling but i'm on holiday! I'm so annoyed (: xx
I don't suppose you'll be playing anywhere in London anytime soon? (apart from the underage festival that is). Only just discovered you and I really like your music, especially Problematic Girls and So Called Summer.
Ok, so who's the one with a thesaurus addiction and too much time on their hands? Blinders like "amalgam" make the English Language student in me jump around like a small child.
