WHO MURDERED JANET MARIE CHRISTIANSEN ABAROA?

Janet Marie Christiansen was born June 19th, 1979 into the loving arms of her parents, Janet and Val Christiansen. Also awaiting her were her older siblings, Dena, Brad, Valanie, Sonja, and Krista. Janet was preceded in death by her older sister, Gaynelle, who passed in February, 1982. Janet was the older sister to Erika, Richard and Mark. She was a daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Janet was a good and faithful wife to Raven Abaroa and she was also Kaiden's mommy. She had no way of knowing that six months is all of the time she would get to be a mom.

On April 26, 2005 Janet’s life was taken along with that of her unborn child. Raven Abaroa has since moved to West Jordan, Utah with Kaiden.

To date, no person of interest has been named and yet nobody has been ruled out as a suspect... ..

REWARD OFFERED FOR HOMICIDE INFORMATION

The Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the April 26, 2005 slaying of 25 year old Janet Abaroa of Durham.

Janet’s husband, Raven, found her stabbed to death inside their home at 2606 Ferrand Drive around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26. Their 6 month old son, Kaiden, was uninjured. There were no obvious signs of a break in, but a laptop computer was missing from the house.

No charges have been filed in the case, but investigators do not believe it was a random act. Police have not named a suspect in the case.

In the hours before her death, Janet Abaroa, who was in the early stages of pregnancy, picked up her child at day care and went with her husband to drop her car off for repairs. The Abaroas met with a church member at their home that evening before Raven Abaroa left the house around 8:30 p.m. in a gray Dodge Durango to play in an indoor soccer game in Morrisville. Raven Abaroa found his wife when he returned home from the game.

The Carole Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation is committed to raising public awareness of the issue of missing persons who have gone missing under suspicious circumstances and of innocent people who have fallen victim to violent crimes, according to the Foundation’s mission statement.

In certain cases, the Foundation posts rewards for families of victims who lack the financial means to do so themselves. These rewards provide a tool to help law enforcement find missing persons and bring perpetrators to justice, according to the mission statement. The $5,000 reward, which will be in effect for six months, is in addition to a reward offered by CrimeStoppers for an arrest in this case.
