Tears of Magdalena was formed in Helsinki, January 2007. Actually the first five months the band name was 'Dream Liturgia', then we had several suggestions for the band name and Peuge finally decided the name 'Tears Of Magdalena'. The idea was to play gothic/symphonic/melodic metal, combining female classical singing with male growls.
After one year of hard work all efforts were paid when we signed a deal with Scarlet Records. We found Tero Kinnunen (known also from Nightwish) who was really interested in recording and mixing our debut album. So, recordings started in February 2008 and Mika Jussila from Finnvox studios finished with the mastering at the end of May 2008. It was great pleasure to work with such professional persons.
We had couple of gigs during the summer but then Japanese biggest record label, Marquee Avalon also wanted to release our album. They wished to have a bonus song only for Japanese markets. Therefore, we went back to the studio to record a song called 'October Rust'. This is really great opportunity for the band to get publicity also in Japanese markets!
After having big problems with Vasstago for several months, we decided that our bass player, Tommy, takes over the male singing parts.
During fall we were training for gigs, and also we were working hard with promotion. Just before album release we started to have disagreements with Magdalena Lee and decided to go separate ways. However, we were fortunate to find very talented classical singer Jevgenia. She has all qualities we were looking for: beautiful classical voice, strong experience and great personality. Jevgenia is also known from famous symphonic folk metal band Kivimetsän Druidi and she has been touring around Europe with KmD/Korpiklaani.
New members bring a lot of new 'blood' to the band and we can't wait start working with new material!
As now we have a great gang together we are ready for gigs.

Put together the first music video for one of the songs, that being for the song "Eel Marsh House", which is based on the movie "The Woman In Black". Wasn't sure to name it that instead of 'Eel Marsh..." ...Eel Marsh House being where the woman in black 'lived', and now haunts it. Though, she seems to haunt the general area of the village as well as the House. If anyone catches her gaze, looks into her eyes....a child will die, usually from the family of the person unfortunate to look at her. As you see what happens to the story's main character at the end.

hey! we are trying to change something... our new singer erik can't be a full member of dreamscape because the stess to travel a lot is affecting his health. so we decided to work with more than one singer - honestly we will work with even more than two... hopefully you will like that idea! we like it a lot because we will be very flexible and our sound will become even more complex! kind regards! From June 21st our songs "Heaven Close At Hand", "Sweet Nothings" and "Hi-tech Lonelyness" are featured in "Dark Tower" compilation, out on Nomadism Records. The compilation is a special initative against the music piracy, is published in a special Digipack DVD format, contains tons of music, videos, bonus tracks and mp3s and is sold at the symbolic price of € 5,00 on Nomadism's website.
