"Fascinating creatures, phoenixes...their tears have healing powers."
~ "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by J.K. Rowling.
Sometimes in life things come together in such a way that you know they were fated to be important, to change your life in some drastic, terrifying, and electric way. There is that moment of revelation that all you have gone through, learned, and suffered was for a specific reason, and in finding that reason, it all makes sense.
As bibliophiles and writers ourselves, our epiphany came in the form of the ruined books filling a New Orleans library and the efforts of those looking to rebuild. Wanting desperately to help, we took stock of the skills of ourselves and our friends, and vowed to put them to use, not only to help New Orleans get their books back, but also to help other charities sharing the love of the written word.
What we want to do is what everyone wants to do: Make a difference, change the world, and use our talents for good. What we realized is that we can’t do it alone.
Tears of the Phoenix is a non-profit literary charitable organization run by volunteers and dedicated to promoting writers and artists from all walks of life and prior publishing credentials who are willing to donate their talents to help literary and educational charities.
In plain English, we produce an anthology and literary journal with ALL PROFITS benefiting literary and educational charities.
Under the Tears of the Phoenix umbrella, we have two independent, nonprofit publishing imprints: Tears of the Phoenix Anthologies and Tears of the Phoenix Ink, a literary magazine.
We hope in some way Tears of the Phoenix becomes a revelation for you too. Whether you are a writer, an artist, or perhaps a literary or educational charity crying to be heard, to get funding to do some good in this crazy world, finding us was your first sign.
Our current project is an anthology benefiting Rebuild New Orleans Public Libraries is now available. We will begin a new project with Darien Book Aid Plan at the end of July and Book Aid International in August. We are looking to launch of our literary magazine, Tears of the Phoenix Ink.
For more information about us, our goals and the birth of Tears of the Phoenix, visit our Web site.
If you are a non-profit literary/book or educational charity with 501c status looking for some help, drop us an e-mail.
Join us in proving that a love of stories can, in fact, make a difference in the world!
Who I'd like to meet: We are interested in writers and artists who, like us, want to prove the power of the written word. We're looking for people who’d like to take part in our charity publications. All work will be judged on its merit, not the author’s publishing credits.
