    BRIAN SCOTT TEASLEY's Interests
GeneralPublicly and privately careening in dejection and underachievement. Also, failing miserably at a myriad of activities including all things that have to do with what I call the giant sasquatch footprint of onus.

Things I Like: nice people, my cats, my family, my girlfriend Merrilee, Airstreams, 8-tracks, cryptozoology, Ludwig and Trixon drums, mid-century modern furtinure, getting stitches, riding bikes in sketchy and industrial sections of Birmingham, before and after plastic surgery pics--especially where the surgery was botched, extremely bad self-taught art especially if it has a "fantasy genre" theme, Reed Books, memorabilia from bad modern country stars like my Billy Ray Cyrus toy tour bus or my Randy Travis coasters or my mini-Clint Black cardboard stand up, huge metropolises with dense populations (Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Tokyo, Shanghai, Lima, Seoul, New York City, Buenos Aires, etc.), documentaries about any sort of crazed obsession, Cherry Coke Zero, the Kiwi accent, high ceilings, Smurfs, functional junk, sharpies, Ethiopian food, retro futurism, amphibians, Tv on DVD, What's on 2nd?, Polaroid One Step, scary ventriloquist dummies, slide projectors, bio-diesel, moon globes, blowing pumpkins up with gas and fireworks, books on extreme physical obsessions like self-mutilation or self-amputation, redneck technology, Collyer Brothers Syndrome, playing a show that I think was actually performed decently, a good thesaurus, the combined taste of mouthwash and my gums bleeding from flossing too hard, the New Journalism school of thought, the space needle, bread and carbs in general, Solipsism, geodesic domes, and BBQ Seitan.

Things I hate: being broke as a joke, ironic metal, new age-y bullshit, indoctrination of the religious variety, English peas, the British music press, nationalism, people with mercurial demeanors, vegetarians who talk loudly in public about being vegetarian, good friends being lost to drugs or suicide, the smell of A1 sauce, leopard or cheetah print anything, running, asking someone a question in 2008 and having them tell me that I should "google it", my knocked out bottom tooth that I never have gotten fixed, neoconservatism, dream catchers, people who try to "tan" themselves, Skittles, personalized license plates, "folk" art not made by crazy people, camping, fishing, hippies, people with trust funs, bubble tea, car maintenance, beach sand, armpit hair, business casual, electroclash people who dress like they're in an 80s areobics class, board games in general, homeopathy, bands with two lead singers, restaurants who play music way too loud, Pentecostalism; American broadcast news a.k.a irrelevant, sensationalistic fear-based pseudo-tele-journalism; missing white girl syndrome, sexism, racism, torture, slavery (yes, it still exist in the modern world), burkas, really watery tomatoes, pennies, black or gay republicans, hunting, most children and old people, Stephen King books, anyone who is Dutch, people with asymmetrical ears, and any bands formed after the year 2000.

HeroesPeople who mix sports with music, you know stuff like The Chicago Bears "Superbowl Shuffle," and John Fogerty's "Centerfield." Unintentional mixtures are cool too (stuff used at sports games): "The Rockafeller Skank" - Fatboy Slim, "Rock and Roll Part 2 (The Hey Song)" - Gary Glitter, and "Takin' Care Of Business" - Bachman-Turner Overdrive, but I wouldn't consider the people who first thought to use these songs at professional sports games as "actual" hereos; that said, they are damn good Americans for their panache-fueled vision to inherently know things like "Blitzkrieg Bop" would be a rad song to play while people are doing The Wave.

   BRIAN SCOTT TEASLEY's Blurbs
About me:
So thanks for taking time to even read the first sentence of this crap. I pre-apologize if you are offended by anything on my page. I don't mean to offend anyone, but people write in complaining about things that have written all the time so I suppose there's just something about me that is easy to hate--believe me, I can relate. Anyway, what a fucking mess I have made of my life (and other people's as well). That said, I have never met a person, even one whose life I have left eternally wrecked, who abhors me more than I do myself. C'mon people work for it! Regardless, I have accomplished many grand failures. I have played in various bands, including Man or Astro-Man? ( Man Astro-Man? interview/ reuinoin footage of Touch and Go Records 25th Anniversary), The Mono Men, Servotron, The Causey Way, Shannon Wright, The Japancakes, The Vue, Har Mar Superstar, Humans, The Polyphonic Spree, and St. Vincent. I have opened shows for the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Cheap Trick, and Brian Wilson. I have appeared on David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno, The Craig Kilburn show, the Jon Stuart show, Austin City Limits, Alternative Nation, and 120 Minutes. Despite the loss of much sanity from living in a van or bunk on a bus for 15 years, I have played over 2,500 shows in 33 countries, 50 states, and 600 cities. I have seen one million shades of shit concerning how poorly shows can be put on or promoted. As an ugly American and pathetically awkward traveler, I have been to 54 countries on the giant round ass rock called Earth, and thus, have seen most of the bleaker parts of humanity.

(Unprofessionally) I have more or less floundered at writing outside the world of ass-foolery known as music journalism. I mostly have just written for the NME, Flipside, Creative Loafing, Stomp and Stammer, Maximum Rock and Roll, and CMJ monthly. I am also the head writer for Chunklet magazine and have written the vast majority of two music books, "The Overrated Book," and "The Rock Bible." To show you how undubitably tragic my life has been: I've performed at or been to South by Southwest for 13 years straight. That should be a human's right violation by anyone's standards.

In 2002 at a party in San Francisco, I told Lars Ulrich of Metallica (to his face) that he looks like a epileptic, gay elf held captive by a pair of bicycle shorts when he plays drums. After performing in 2004 at The Noble Peace Prize awards, I hung out with Tom Cruise and to this day I receive Scientology gifts in the mail. My 2nd biggest claim to fame is that I once peed next to Ice-T backstage at a Pantera concert. My biggest claim to fame is shutting down the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport for being a suspected terrorist (for just traveling with a strange "pipe bomb-looking microphone"). I got out of the predicament and literally off the top 10 most wanted people in America list by using my TIVO for the F.B.I. (Polyphonic Spree Drummer Brian Teasley Makes the FBI's Ten Most-Wanted List).

Other than that, I occasionally write a fragmented piece of irrelevant bullshit for myself and whoever will read it. I also book rock shows in Birmingham, AL at a club called Bottletree, live with my girlfriend and 5 cats, and work on my ever-present grudge against the cosmos.
