My interests lie in good music of almost all genres, independent films, acoustic guitar, fingerstyle, pop, folk, rock. Non-competitive Okinawan martial arts. Languages (German, Japanese).
Music
I play a lot of other people's acoustic pop/rock/folk/punk stuff as well as music from some obscure fingerstyle artists. As for the artists at the top of my iPod playlists... Glen Hansard, Damien Rice, U2, Kristin Hoffman, Neil Young, Indigo Girls, Sting / Police, Antigone Rising, Julia Fordham, Dire Straits, Sarah McLachlan, Lyle Lovett, Fiona Apple, Beatles, Tori Amos, Michelle Shocked, Green Day, Buzzcocks, Icicle Works, Nanci Griffith, Pretenders, Ramones, CS&N, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Five for Fighting, etc., etc. Really digging my friend's latest project: http://www.rabidowl.com/
Movies
Once, Juno, No Country For Old Men, Somewhere in Time, Himmel ueber Berlin, Amelie, The Dreamers, I (heart) Huckabees, Exotica, Natural Born Killers, Pulp Fiction, The Life of David Gale, Chicago, Bowling for Columbine, Shawshank Redemption, Brazil, Der Untergang.
Television
... is evil. I prefer independent films and sometimes documentaries. Okay, sometimes I watch sports and Comedy Central, too.
Books
Perfume, The Traveler, Name of the Rose, Undaunted Courage. Anything by Terry Pratchett. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.
Heroes
My parents, my children and my fiancee. People who overcome adversity with grace, tenacity and personal integrity.
Here are pictures of our family during a trip to Tanglewood to see the BSO play Mozart.

About me: I work, care for my children half-time, and play guitar and sing when I can.. I joined myspace to network with other musicians and old friends I've come across through the years.
I'm always up for going out to see live music. Drop me a line! Check out some of my rudimentary recordings at http://home.comcast.net/~tkempster
Who I'd like to meet: Practically speaking, other musicians and music lovers... I'm all set for romance, thanks! Theoretically, I think it would be really cool to share some time with Sting, Nelson Mandela, Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Tom Hanks, Bruno Ganz, Jon Stewart, Me'Shell NdegéOcello, Glen Hansard, Bono, Barak Obama...
Good seeing you at the Grafton Inn for Dan's gig. Good luck with the travels to Dubai, and if I don't see you after you get back, even more good luck to you and Gerlinde for your "intimate gathering" out on the Vineyard.
Dinner was great last night...Your world travels are pretty impressive my dear friend...I could listen all day... Hope your return home is relaxing and your batteries get recharged...I'll let you know when Old Mr. Gobbler gets roasted...Remember...There's a place for all God's creatures...right next to the potaotes and gravy! Was that "Coppola" wine not awesome? Have a great day, thanx again, and lets get together again soon.
Don't even talk to me about Bose...I spoke with a rep from them a couple weeks ago who said they were interested in using my new record for a demo for their new sound system...we talked for over an hour and basically game to a "gentleman's agreement" only so they could disappear and never get back to me...That corporation sucks all the way around...from their equipment to their public relations...They just don't get it... WELCOME TO THE MUSIC BIZ!!
The real problem is i just don't know enough about this stuff to make an informed decision...I can't grasp why there is no "road worthiness" to it...I've lost two PA's in a week...this is ridiculous...Even my spare broke down... What's on your agenda?
What a great time last night..That last bottle of red was AWESOME!...I liked your friends and the flick was great. What more could a guy ask for on his 40th..Hope you had as good a time as I did..."This town's gonna burn!"...an old west drive-by...that was interesting...Happy 40th my friend...I look forward to Austria.
