"the more rockin' alt-country bands to break through in 2008."
(HicksWithSticks.com - 12/24/08)
Influenced by hard-edged troubadours like Joe Ely and Dave Alvin, and Texas songwriters from Buddy Holly to Rodney Crowell’s latest record,
and with a sound fused by the rock and roll energy of the Rolling Stones,
The GoldDiggers straddle the intersection of rock, country and rockabilly,
playing original songs by the band and a few lesser-known favorites.
The band is comprised of well-known Bay Area sidemen and features
honky-tonk piano, twangin' guitars, lap steel, and a tight rhythm section.
In the words of Bay Area twang authority HicksWithSticks.com:
"This all-Americana band does not fit into any particular style.
Their tracks include rockabilly...California twang-rock...and the folksy..."
On 4/13/08 we played on KPIG's live music show Please Stand By.
Hear why longtime Bay Area journalist and music critic Brad Kava said:
"...you know the great musicians by something called dynamics...
....and these guys, they take my breath away..."
"...it's like shifting gears in a race car..."
"...these are all originals? i'd buy that - right now i'd go home and download it"
In 2009 the band was featured in the SF Examiner, had live video performances in rotation on Comcast on Demand, recorded an
original demo EP, and played live shows in SF, Berkeley, and Marin.
Since 2006 I've played bass in the live band of KFOG Local Scene Artist Brittany Shane, opening shows for Chris Isaak, Stevie Nicks, Liz Phair,
Indigo Girls, Suzanne Vega, Chip Taylor, Big Head Todd & the Monsters,
Andrew Bird, Taylor Hicks, Reckless Kelly, and Chuck Prophet, at local
venues and side stages from The Fillmore to the Concord Pavillion.
Along the way I've played in local bands with members of The Tubes,
4 Non Blondes, The Ike & Tina Turner Revue, and Commander Cody.
I'm also currently performing with reunion supergroup M.E.L.T.
as we play the songs of our teenage years for your enjoyment.
Recent recording projects include the Put Your Faith in Me CD from
country band Crooked Roads, singer-songwriter Dennis Roarick's EP,
and the self-titled release from roots-pop band Great Highway...
and club dates with alt-country bands Kitchen Fire and Zachariah,
Dylan enthusiasts Warehouse Eyes, singing cowgirl Kitty Rose,
roots band The Memoirs, and special occasions with Country Pie.
