Hakkımda:
Welcome to the unofficial myspace page of Governor Ted Strickland. This page is maintained by volunteers, not by Governor Strickland or his staff. If you would like to contact the Governor, please visit http://governor.ohio.gov.

Ted Strickland was born on August 4th, 1941, on Duck Run in Lucasville, Ohio, the 8th of 9 children and the son of a steelworker. He was elected Governor on November 7th, 2006 with 61% of the vote. Prior to being elected Governor, he served 6 terms in the United States Congress, representing Ohio's 6th district.

From his official Bio:
After Ted Strickland was first reelected to Congress, he placed a plaque in his office with the following quote from Scripture:

“And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”—Micah 6:8

Throughout his service as a minister, a psychologist, a professor and a Member of Congress, Ted has worked to exemplify those simple, powerful words. The same plaque hangs in the Governor’s Office, coupled with the same commitment to fulfill them.

He comes to the Governor’s Office ready to put his heart and soul into fighting for the dignity of families and all people in Ohio.” As governor, Ted is guided by his Turnaround Ohio plan, which focuses on the unbreakable link between economic growth and educational achievement. Ted wants to ensure that Ohio keeps and grows the jobs we have by investing in Ohio’s strengths, and also wants to bring the jobs of the future to our state by ensuring that we have the best-educated workforce possible.

.’m just writing you this to inform you that Libraries all over Ohio are in trouble. On Friday, June 19 2009 at a Governor Strickland proposed 6 last minute changes to the State Budget. One of these changes proposes that Ohio public libraries that are currently dealing with a 20% reduction in state funding will receive an additional 30% cut. Ohio public libraries for the next two years (beginning July 1) will receive over a 52% reduction in state aid that comes out to about 227 million dollars. This means shorter hours that the library will be open, fewer services, and fewer new materials being bought. It’s too late to be writing letters to our governor. So, I’m asking you all if you could take just ten minutes out of your busy lives and send the Governor and our local Senators and Representatives an email, or call them and leave a message and let your voice be heard that your not happy about the cuts that are going to be made in the state budget when it comes library funding. There is talk of closing 20 libraries in the state of Ohio, please contact these state officials and tell them that you don’t want to see our local libraries closed. Where else can you check out books, dvd’s, audio books, cd’s, cd roms, video games and use the internet all for free?

Here is a website that will even provide you sample letters that all you would have to do is cut and paste the text into an email to Governor Strickland, your Ohio Senator, or Ohio Representative. Here is the website: http://saveohiolibraries.com/?page_id=85. So please take the time to find out whom your local Senators and Representatives are, send them a line or two, and tell them that you are not happy. And don’t forget to send the governor one too.

Governor Strickland,

How could you possibly consider cutting library funding at a time when communities are in such dire need of library services? Your proposed budget cut of 50% to libraries will ruin 70% of the libraries in the state and leave all Ohioans much worse for the wear. Ohio's libraries are quite used to working with the ebb and flow of the state's budget, but an active choice to cut their funding in half is a death sentence. I beg you to reconsider.

Hello Mr. Governor-
I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your speech very much at Buckeye Boys State last week. It's good to know that there are still goverment officials who are honest and care about the future of the country. I know that because of leaders like you the future is going to have wonderful leaders.

Thank you again,

Please sign on to a "dear colleague" letter to President Obama that urges the President to support a U.N. Security Council commission of inquiry into crimes against humanity being committed in Burma.Support a Commission of Inquiry for Burma

Dear President Obama,

Successive U.S. administrations, with overwhelming bi-partisan support from Congress, have shown their support for Burmese peoples’ aspiration to live in a democratic society free from their military dictatorship. Unfortunately, despite U.S. efforts as well as decades of peaceful attempts by successive United Nations Special Envoys and Rapporteurs to convince the Burmese military regime to end its atrocities and seek a peaceful transition to democracy, peace, democracy and stability elude Burma.

Therefore, we urge you to take the lead in establishing a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Commission of Inquiry into the Burmese military regime’s crimes against humanity and war crimes against its civilian population. Similar cases in Rwanda, Yugoslavia, and Darfur have all led to Commissions of Inquiry and each previous case had UN Special Envoys and Special Rapporteurs assigned to seeking peaceful solutions to their respective countries international humanitarian crises. Still though, the UNSC took the necessary step and established a Commission of Inquiry to investigate and provide justice and accountability for the war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide committed with impunity by state agents. By elevating the cause of Burma to the UNSC, the United States is putting Burma’s supporters on notice that we will not support the status quo while millions of people languish.

The United Nations has passed over 30 resolutions acknowledging and decrying the Burmese military regime’s crimes and blatant system of impunity. All the while, Burma’s military regime has carried out a scorched-earth campaign against the country’s ethnic minority civilian population, destroying over 3,300

I am not a fake. I don't pretend I'm only love or good energy and I don't expect nor want people to try and force me to be so. I am the totality of the human experience and I don't live the delusion of just being love or thinking that is the goal of life. Why should I deny things that I am and try to only be a small part of what is me? I don't need to act like an idealism thinking others are going to think I'm enlightened. I am comfortable being a human and embracing all parts of my humanity because I'm not in denial of what I am. I proudly walk around feeling hate and love, sadness and happiness, because I accept myself.
My art and myself are not purely love or good energy. Maybe a fraction of my art is love or good energy because that is only a fraction of who I am. I don't live in a dream land full of delusions but I live in reality and know I'm a human that is everything humans are, inside. My art is the totality of the human experience and when people approach me, I want them to feel everything, because that is what we are and can experience.

Thanks for the add. Honestly, as an alumnis of University of Michigan, I'm stunned that I asked your gov to be our friend. But my teenage daughter said I should show love and invite a man who showed this much commitment to his comminuty, even if he probably is a buckeye. Besides, we all know the only good game to watch in any college sport is a Michigan/Ohio game. I guess I couldn't love the games without ya!
So, here's a little love from a diehard Wolverine.

PLEASE sign my guestbook if you get a chance. And ask your gov to do so as well (he doesn't have to be my myspace friend or have a personal myspace profile to do so). Blessings, ~Sharon~
