Teenage Kicks is a radio show featuring a mix of Scootering & Punk sounds from the 60's through to the present day, featuring 2-Tone, Ska, Mod, Soul, Motown, New-Wave, Punk & Oi! with a few extra bits thrown in for good measure.
Presented by David Crane, every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday night from 10pm til midnight (UK time).
The show was originally created as a trip down memory lane to my own school days of the the late 70's and early 80's. Music featured was the many tunes that were around at that time, including the varied types of songs that hit the UK charts.
The title 'Teenage Kicks' is obviously taken from the 1978 Undertones song of the same name, and is reflective of a period in time in which i became musically aware.
This is the format of the show that i brought to Ace Radio in May 2009, and it was well received. But, mainly due to requests from listeners, it became apparent that people wanted to hear music of a more scootering type. With this in mind i dug deep into my knowledge and experience of the scootering scene and reinvented the show in it's present format.
Some features have come and gone, and some have stayed in place, and i am constantly looking for new ideas to fit into the show. Some features require listener participation and never fail to get the attention of those wanting to get involved in the show.
So, please take some time to tune into the show and relive some of those scootering memories alongside some more recent tunes, and some brand new tracks.
MP3's of songs for the show are welcome and appreciated and can be sent via email to david@aceradio.co.uk.
Any Mod, Ska or Scootering related bands that would like to have their music played on the show are invited to get in touch.
My name is David Crane. I'm a radio presenter originally from Hampshire, but now based in North Yorkshire.
My interest in radio comes from many years of making compilation tapes and CD's using old 60's radio jingles to link the music. I have had a strong passion for music all my life and I'm rarely without a music player of some type. I was a Mod/Scooterboy/Skinhead through the 1980's and 90's and I have been involved in many different music scenes over the years, but with a constant alliance to the Scootering scene.
My earliest memories of music date back to the early 70’s when we'd sit down for Sunday lunch as a family and listen to Jimmy Savile's 'Double Top Ten' show on Radio 1. Each week would be songs from two different charts from the 50’s and 60’s, and I’d tap my feet and sing along to the ones I knew. I learned a lot of my early musical knowledge from listening to that radio show.
I started presenting shows on Harrogate Hospital Radio in March 2007, ranging from request shows to my own 50's & 60's oldies show. I started presenting shows on internet stations during the second half of 2008 and have had shows aired on several stations online since then.
I now present my Teenage Kicks show (All the best Scootering & Punk sounds) every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday exclusively on Ace Radio - The Sound Of The Internet. The show features tunes from 2-Tone, Ska, Mod, Soul, Motown, New-Wave, Punk & Oi!
I hope you can join me for a mixture of old classics and brand new tracks.
Keep The Faith!
David
