"So how are local scenes generated? Usually it's the end result of determined effort on the part of just a few individuals working along the same lines, whether they know each other or not. New scenes start when a club owner decides to break the monotony by booking different kinds of music, in an attempt to see which ones will catch on with his clientelle. Sometimes it's when a radio station or clique or fanzine alter their normal programming. By far, the most interesting changes are made when outside elements descend upon a city, bringing their 'alien' concepts and execution and apply their perspectives to an already existing scene.
