Teesmusictech is the MySpace site for Music Technology B.Sc. (Honours) and Foundation Degrees validated by this university and delivered at this college in the Tees Valley.
Both programmes run in an exciting new £68M music & performance facility at Middlehaven in the centre of Middlesbrough that is unique in the north-east. The facility features two theatres connected (via MADI) to five studios (two equipped for surround sound), each with its own control room, the largest of which can hold an orchestra.
Studios are equipped with industry standard Digidesign ProTools HD II (MacPro) and C|24 desks offering 96 simultaneous audio tracks at 96 kHz. The studios also offer Apple Logic Studio and Waves Surround tools, Focusrite Octopre and Genelec monitoring. Microphones include offerings from Blue, SE Electronics, Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser, DPA, Oktava, and Samson. Two Audio/MIDI Programming suites feature ProTools, Reason, Cubase, Live, Sibelius and MaxMSP+Jitter.
As a Digidesign Sponsored School, you can take the first steps towards becoming an official ProTools Operator as part of your degree at no extra cost. You can also purchase Digidesign hardware & software at a significant discount.
You will be taught by our HE music technology team - enthusiastic industry practitioners Kendall Wrightson, Shaun Martin, Michael Greig, and Chris Allen with a diverse range of experience and interests. The emphasis is on project-based learning, linking theory and practice. Modules are delivered in the facilities described above supported by lectures and tutorials. Assessment includes practical work, working with real clients, solo and group presentations and written assignments. Have a look at the module titles here.
