About me: TELL
Treasures of the East London Line - a response to its closure.
Action research project celebrating the past, present and future of the East London Line through collaboration with local community groups.
Postgraduate students from the MA in Cross Sectoral and Community Arts at Goldsmiths College, New Cross delivered in partnership with the National Theatre, will engage with local schools, Transport for London staff and members of the public in a participatory arts activities throughout May 2007. This will culminate in a one day celebration on the trains and at stations along the East London Line. Participants will be given an opportunity to express personal stories and reflections creating a platform for corporate and community engagement.
This is seen as an initial research stage of a larger community engagement project that will run alongside the planned ELL development.
The project will be delivered in three phases;
Phase 1: April – May 2007.
Initial engagement and research with accompanying showcase event.
Phase 2: May – December.
Review lessons learned, delivery of line wide participatory arts festival to coincide with line closure. Participants will fall into three groups – Community, Staff and Passengers.
Phase 3: December 2007 – 2010.
TELL artists run a variety of artist led participatory art projects working with community groups along the now closed line creating and sustaining communication between these communities.
This will culminate in a line wide participatory arts festival coinciding with the opening of the new line.
