About Temple Music Prep

The Music Preparatory Division of Temple' Boyer Cllege of Music enjoys a reputation nationwide for program innovation and teaching excellence. Temple Music Prep's Center for Lifelong Learning offers a wide spectrum of individual lessons and group enrichment opportunities for children and adults alike.

CGYM

Our Center for Gifted Young Musicians (CGYM) provides a challenging package of musical training at the highest level by some of Philadelphia's most prestigious artist/teachers, coupled with performance opportunities for gifted young instrumentalists (strings olnly) and singers. By audition only.

Auditions for the 2009-2010 string program will be held in September, 2009. Dates TBA.

CMSP

The Community Music Scholars Program (CMSP) provides a comprehensive program of Jazz and Classical Music instruction for school-aged Philadelphia children of limited financial means. The program offers individual lessons in all standard orchestral instruments (including saxophone), three levels of music theoryclass, and oportunities for participation in jazz and string ensembles.

Philadelphia public and parochial school music teachers must first recommend students for this program. Auditions of recommended students are then held to identify the most qualified instrumentalists for participation.

ECMF

Temple Music Prep's nationally recognized Early Childhood Music Foundations program develops the very young child's potential in music and helps parents recognize and nurture their child's music making: ages infant through 6years.

Saturday Morning classes held at Temple University Center City: 1515 Market Street.
Monday Morning classes held at the Kimmel Center's Merck Arts Education Center: Broad and Spruce Streets.

DANCE

Temple Music Prep's dance program offers a full range of classes from Creative Movement for children aged 3 to 4, through three levels Modern Dance and Ballet Techniques for teens. All dance classes are offered in partnership with Friends Select School and take place at its location at 17th and Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
