  • Bio

Chicagoan, Temple Schultz, writes music that immediately grabs the listener's ears and holds on to their hearts. If there was a genre for "Intelligent Adult Pop" Temple's music would be at the center of it. Her lyrics are profound and her melodies and underlying chords go beyond the typical two or three chords often found in standard pop writing. Temple's upcoming CD (Due out in summer of 2011) is produced by Vijay Tellis-Nayak of Transient Sound. The CD showcases some of Chicago's finest musicians and takes full advantage of the magic that can be created in a studio setting. The complex production on her CD, however, is not attempting to bolster mediocre songwriting. Temple's songs are solid and hold up under the most simplest of instrumentation. For her live shows, rather than attempting to recreate the incredibly lush recorded sound on her CD, Temple plays her music in a scaled down setting, either with a trio or as a soloist. Temple studied both classical and jazz music at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and at the University of Miami in Florida. She plays both piano and guitar and teaches at the Old Town School of Folk Music. The blend of her formal training and raw emotion create well-written songs that bear listening to again and again.

Sleep, warm/hot weather, the beach, hiking, gardens, full moon, more sleep.
  • Sounds Like

Temple chooses to let others decide what her music sounds like. Just don't take the easy way out by comparing her to other bands or artists. There are so many wonderful adjectives out there.
