Music as a map and a carrier to distant places, such is the music of
Templo Diez (once described as the band that provides the soundtrack
for your daydreams), an introspective journey between lonesome plains
and anonymous urban lives.
A Netherlands-based band with members from France, Italy and the
Netherlands, Templo Diez was founded in 2003 as their self-produced
demo was selected for a SXSW showcase in Austin, Texas.
Since then, the band has collected no less than 5 American and 3
Canadian tours, including festivals such as SXSW, CMJ, In The City
(UK), CMW and NXNE. In their home country, they played at major events
such as Crossing Border, Motel Mozaique, the Music in my Head,... and
in venues as Paard, Paradiso or Tivoli among others.
Released in 2003, their debut album “ Hoboken” garnered raving
reviews, as did Their sophomore CD “winterset” (2006), showing their
progression towards a larger sound full of contrast and intensity for
a true cinematographic listening experience rooted in frontman Pascal
Hallibert's left field songwriting.
Following the transitional 2008 “ crowheart” EP, the last part of the
trilogy (titled “ merced”) was released in may 2009, showcasing an
ever-developing musical collective pledging allegiance to song
dynamics, sonic architectures and above all, emotions and atmospheres.
More than ever, templo diez crafts the soundtrack for the journey to
wherever day dreams might lead.
Now grown to a 6-piece combo, they have garnered an impressive live
reputation, mixing their own blend of slow-core, alt-country and very
twisted pop into emotional and driven performances.
