Influences
Tempo Novo was formed in spring 2005, after Juanjo and Jamie met Portuguese singer Cristina Matos. They started playing in the Midlands area and through these years a large number of excellent musicians have been part of the band. Now they are based in London as a quarter. Tempo Novo play mostly Brazilian music, which include bossa nova , many different types of samba, choro and other Brazilian styles. They also have their own compositions, to which they inject a Brazilian/Latin flavour. Their influences include of course a lot of Brazilian music, including music from Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chico Buarque, Baden Powell....but also more traditional samba and choro composers sich as Noel Rosa, Cartola, Nelson Cavaquinho, Candeia, Pixinguinha, etc. and more recent Brazilian samba artists such as Jorge Aragao, Martinho da Vila, Seu Jorge, etc. -

Wilma Rudolph was born prematurely at 4.5 lbs., the 20th of 22 siblings; Rudolph contracted infantile paralysis (caused by the polio virus) at age 4. She recovered, but wore a brace on her left leg and foot (which had become twisted as a result) until she was 9.
Wilma Rudolph was considered the FASTEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD in the 1960s and competed in two Olympic Games, in 1956 and in 1960.
In the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome Rudolph became the first American woman to win 3 GOLD MEDALS in track and field during a single Olympic Games.
