The name was chosen for its Koan like ability to break ones mind away from the rational to the subliminal. Tenbillionyears is also the estimated lifespan of our galaxy.
Yhan luppi formed TENBILLIONYEARS with long time friend Matt Chaseling, the pair met auspiciously in a music store in the mid nineties and shared a love of bands like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Janes Addiction, Primus, Kyuss etc, and all things rock (rock climbing, rock fishing, rock collecting).
Roads parted then came together again in 2005 in the sleepy town of Katoomba, a blue mountain hideout for hippies and artists, Yhan had moved their to meditate and Matt to escape his home town. The band was named and Bass and Drums were filled out with some old school friends. An eponymous debut ep quickly followed. The first track 'Arise' was spun on Australia's famous Triple J, but the band was unhappy with the record so it was quickly buried; The only track the band are interested in having heard from the debut ep is 'silent storm'.
Yhan and Matt then moved to Sydney in 2007 to be closer to the action and reassigned the drums to new local friend Andrew Herringe. The band recorded and released 'Black Cloak' (digital single) in mid 2007 and was again played on Triple J. Soon after the release of Black Cloak bassist Scott Ransley left the band due to artistic differences.
In 2008 Yhan, Matt and Andrew hooked up with Fluoxetine guitarist and founder Paul Handel to try out for Bass, at first it was solely to cover a gig, but during the show a collective revelation was experienced. Paul now has joined the band and is on board for a new EP due this year. The first show Paul played will also be released as the bands first live ep called 'live at Spectrum'.

Hey I like your sound, and I like your name... it's not often you come across people that are trying to 'wake us up' from the matrix so to speak. everyone needs to at least glimpse the eternal beauty of our universe every now and then, at least that's what I think :)
