  • Bio

We are a southern/bluegrass gospel group from the Beckley, WV area. The band, started out as a husband/wife duo & a single guitar. Through God's blessings we have grown into a wonderful group of friends who love to make our ministry to Him through our music. Our first CD, I Am Blessed, came out last fall & a few weeks ago our 2nd CD, Front Porch Religion was released. What an experience that has been! Our "family" of musicians has grown so much in the past year & the bonds we have created truly are a gift from Heaven. The music we sing & play is made up of several original recordings, as well as some old time classics that many of you will remember. The band is comprised of the group's original members, Jim & Sheri Lowe. Jim plays rhythm guitar/dobro & sings lead vocals. His wife, Sheri, does lead & harmony vocals. Bass player, Roger Bennett, lives in Meadow Creek, WV, & sings lead vocals as well. He has a wonderful ministry, both musically & personally. Jim, Sheri & Roger are members of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Abraham, WV Playing rhythm guitar as well as mandolin, Dennis Haynes, of Beaver, WV is also a harmony vocalist. Dennis attends Hilltop Baptist Church in Midway. He is also the proprietor of Academy of Vocal & Music Arts in Beaver, WV. Dennis lives in Beaver with his wife Debbie, & children Robbie & Kelsea. Dennis' daughter, Miss Kelsey Haynes, also sings harmony with Sheri on "Momma Prays". 2 newer members to the group, Jonathan Atkins, age 17 & Adam White, age 15 are two fine, talented young men who are truly gifted musicians! Jonathan is from Josephine, WV & plays lead/rhythm guitar. Adam lives in Beckley & plays banjo. Both are students of House of Prayer Christian Academy in Sophia WV, as well as Strings of Green in Sophia, WV. They also attend House of Prayer in Coal City, WV. And the most newly announced addition to Tender Mercies is a very accomplished musician that has been a big catalyst in the growth & promotion of Tender Mercies.....Brandon Green. It's hard to refer to Brandon as a "new member" of the group, as he is featured on the majority of the songs on both of our CD's & produced & recorded them as well at his studio in Sophia, WV, Strings of Green. Brandon has accompanied us at some of our past venues, but only recently came on board officially! Brandon plays banjo, dobro, lead & rhythm guitar, mandolin & just about anything with a string attached!! He sings lead & harmony vocals & helped arrange the music for the songs Sheri wrote & is a co-writer on "Momma Prays". Brandon is also a member of the group Judah's Lion & Strings of Green. He lives with his wife, Amy & son, Josiah in Sophia WV, & attends church at New Hope Church, Indian Creek Road, Wyoming County, WV. Though this group of musicians has a broad spectrum as far as ages & backgrounds, we all share one common thread.....we ALL sing & play for no reason other than to lift up the name of God & Our Precious Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ! We are so blessed to have all these wonderful musicians whose primary focus is on Praising God! Thank you, Lord, for their gifts!
