Sounds Like
Reviewers have said we sound like this:
"Like early Yes albums being played at 78rpm by The Boomtown Rats, very cool"
(Brixton Windmill)
"Blasting out punk rock that gives your ears whiplash whilst indulging in gorgeous instrumental sequences that range from Duran Duran synth-cheese to Tool styled solo smuggery. "
(Blue Light District)
"..taking Guitar drenched alternative rock and giving it the explosive energy of The Blood Brothers... These guys can't sit still for one second, and when listening neither can you! Fusing the driving force of Dinosaur Jnr. with the sonic punch of Pavement...."
(Subba-Cultcha)
"An almost unfathomable fusion of Prince, The Bee Gees, Oscar Peterson and Motörhead"
(Wired)
"they sound like Sparks, Prince and the Cardiacs folded, torn apart then stuck together with gaffer tape (and also given heavier distortion pedals for Christmas...) "
(Black Sheep Bar, Croydon)
"As close to Cardiacs as possible without resorting to full on passport stealing and identity theft"
(Vanity Project)
"a mash up of Nation Of Ulysses or Make Up, Primus, NoMeansNo and the Dead Kennedys"
(Punknews)
"distil the essences of The Banana Splits, The Slits and the great, lost English thrashers English Dogs into a pot that's framed by the attitude of any one of a hundred inept late 70's New Wave also-rans"
(Logo Magazine)
"like a cross between Primus, The Presidents of The USA and a dodgy b-movie and to top it off the ending reminds me of the Muppet Show band... slightly irratic"
(Die Shellsuit, Die!)
Ten Foot Nun:
Inventors of the Croydon 'Pronk' sound, mixing pop, punk and prog in one hefty stewpot.
Best known for their 'event' live performances.
Often mistaken for a comedy band.
- Born in 2001
- Combat operational in 2002
- Released Science Abuse in 2003
- Released TFN Sampler in 2004
- Finalised 'classic' line-up after drummer & bassist problems in 2005
- Released Contact in 2006
- Released Nightmare At The Shoe Museum in 2007
James Bond Theme: better than the original, and definitely better than crappy Duran Duran one, though they are threatening to do another one! Argh! Save us TFN!
A splendid pair of performances at the Brief, gentlemen. I wish I could say that the play moved me, but I couldn't make head nor tail of it (perhaps it's a Croydon thing). The accompanying music, however, was terrific. If you weren't so afraid of the world beyond CRO postcodes, I'd love to see you more often. Please also pass on my regards to The Gash and Gavin for indispensable contributions to what I, personally, consider to be an artistic triumph. The Latin percussion free-for-all was also an inspired move.

A snip at twice the price, doncha think?
You could cover the one about peeing in the margarine in the moonlight (Romania).
Well I'm buggered if I know why the Brief hasn't organised a Eurovision Cover Songs night. Here's the track listing from the first of the unmissable CDs. Take your pick...

My dear friend Edith has just pointed out that there's a heated battle for the last 10 Eurovision places tonight. If our last hope, Andy Abraham (who?) doesn't get through perhaps you should storm the gates and hijack the contest. Terry would be highly impressed, I'm sure. Dress up as Lordi or something. xAMx
Dear Ten Foot Nun What a wise choice you made in choosing to add Auntie May. Not only do I rock harder than Val Doonican on speed, but I can also provide advice on any subject on request, being a reputed rock'n'roll Agony Aunt, and also provide a Bespoke Mobile Eyeliner Application Service to the likes of Isolysis, Rollin Thunder, Mordecai and occasionally Dirty Vendetta when I am in Brighton.
Glad to make your acquaintance and pop in for a flapjack and a swig of Jack when you're in Croydon.
