Think John B Keane minus the words, add a sprinkle of acid jazz, weird facial features and a cowshed full of energy; and you are as close as you can to Ten Past Seven's debut album "Shut Up Your Face".
Ten Past Seven are Matt on Bass, Ger on Drums and Rory on Guitar.
TP7 burst out of the bogs of kerry like the mythical bog walrus itself; graceful and ferocious with a taste for the deeper grooves. With guitar, bass and drums these three young men from the magical Kingdom bring a refreshingly heathen approach to a scene so often over intellectualised and mined for its own inner reflections.
TP7 explore intoxicating grooves using disorientating tempos discovering on the way explosive undercurrents, the intensity of which are likely to grab you by the genitals and rattle your visceral cage.
On stage they hold an audience captive, reeled in by mesmerising rhythms and disturbingly hypnotic facial expressions What starts as an impressive display of soulful musical dexterity, quickly evolves into an all out frenzy of voluminous crescendos and gutshakingly metallic climaxes.
Their debut release on Outonalimb displays the full range of their ability to transfer their raw power and passion to musical expression with an uncluttered instrumental palette, combining psychedelic groove, metal mayhem and jazzy post rock.
They've graced the stage with such acts as. Lightning Bolt, Dj Scotch Egg, XBXRX, Pelican, Nina Nastasia, Charlottefield, Giddy Motors, La Quiete, Moss, The Redneck Manifesto, Noxagt, Electric Eel Shock and have summered at Irish festivals Mantua, The Green Gathering, Livestock, Pikey Fest, Bloom Fest, Killkenny arts Fest and more.
On Tuesday March 27th 2007 TP7 and Los Langeros climbed the highest mountain in Ireland, Carrantouhil, in an effort to bring contemporary Irish music to new heights. Electric and acoustic guitars,a bodhran,a banjo,a microphone were played on the peak all to the amusement of a mountain goat.
In 2008 they released a split single simply titled 'Highest bands in Ireland' exclusively on vinyl with 'Babe Will You Be Mine' by the Langers and 'Anifeiliad' from TP7.
This year they are writing new material and setting their sights even higher with gigs in the UK and Europe to be announced soon
All proceeds still go to the "SAVE THE BOG-WALRUS" campaign.
