Born in Mississippi, Tenya began singing at the tender age of 4. After years of performing at churches and area festivals, Tenya and her family sought professional training in an effort to further develop her vocal instrument.
Tenya continued her music and vocal studies throughout her primary education as well as through her undergraduate studies in Mississippi (Mississippi University for Women) and her graduate studies in Atlanta, Ga., (Clark Atlanta University). Tenya has studied with several vocal coaches, including legendary jazz vocalist, Sheila Jordan, Dena DeRose and Madeline Eastman .
Tenya has worked with many local and regional bands and has opened for numerous national headliners, including, Donald Harrison and Terence Blanchard.
Tenya has become a local favorite, headlining professionally at festivals, special events and clubs.
