The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra is a young Victoria band that plays a unique style of acoustic dance music that people call "gypsy ska". Think Manu Chao meets Yan Teirsen.
Riding the energy of a series of sold out shows and a very well received debut EP, entitled The First EP, the band is currently in the studio writing and recording their first full length album, to be released in April of 2008.
While their roots are very much in the west coast, their influences are varied and growing. Paul Wolda, having studied the Djembe since the age of 7, lays down hypnotic tribal beats as well as smooth Brazilian Portuguese vocals. El Mapache, on accordion, brings the Spanish influence with flamenco rhythms and soaring lead vocals - in both Spanish and English. The energy of these two founding members drives the band but the talent does not stop there. They are joined and expertly supported by guitarist, Kurt Loewen and bassist, Peter Mynett, whose evident musical experience provides a solid framework on which the music is built. The sound is completed by multi-instrumentalist Patrick M'Gonigle with his crafted fiddle melodies that are equal parts Mozart and David Gilmour.

Of course! It is an amazing song. It was the one you were playing when my friends and I first walked up. We totally dig the sound. Eugene is a sweet town. If you haven't been before, I'm sure you'd love it. Come during the Country Fair. Later.
Tequila Mockingbird, is the star of my moonlight. The peace of my earth-right. You are the socks in my sock drawer. and every cold and midnight war, i want to listen more and more. Ian, the blender for my smooth, smooth, drop D's. Paul, the goat skin where the baseline begin, Peter, as the Muslix, music, Kashi of my mornings, Kurt, mystic and missing, and Patrick: The star of my moonlight. wont you let me dance once more, to kill a-in my blood mocking spirits, as I dance - like the bird. as i dance like J-5, Kate, Carie, and Lovely Lu-Lady of the night. As you all dance out of sight.
