That's TERESE GENECCO!
All of those awards and accolades are for her stunning musical creations called "DRUNK WITH LOVE: A TRIBUTE TO FRANCES FAYE!" and "DRUNK WITH LOVE: THE SEQUEL!" as well as her subsequent, hit late-night appearances at The Rrazz Room in San Francisco called "Last Call!" and her current run in New York City at the world famous IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB on the "Last Tuesday" of every month!
Genecco spent all of 2008 blowing the roof off the joint at San Francisco's hottest nightclub, THE RRAZZ ROOM IN THE HOTEL NIKKO, where she appeared for a series of Saturday nights at 10:30 PM from February 2008 through March 2009. Genecco is currently starring at the world famous IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB on Broadway and 51st Steet in Midtown Manhattan! Terese is joined on stage by her 8-piece jazz group called *the little big band* and features special guest stars as available, including Grammy Winning Trumpet Player LEW SOLOFF, Emmy Award Winning Actress /Comedian JUDY GOLD, Grammy Nominated Latin Percussionist MAYRA CASALES, and Actress/Comedian/Jazz Diva LEA DeLARIA.
Genecco's *little big band* also often includes JACK "Mr. Bongo" COSTANZO, (Frances Faye's featured percussionist on her 1958 Live LP, "Caught In The Act!") on Latin percussion. Costanzo also played with major celebrities of the last half of the 20th Century including JUDY GARLAND, FRANK SINATRA, ELVIS PRESLEY, NAT "KING" COLE, DINAH SHORE, SAMMY DAVIS, JR., and many more. He also appeared in several feature films in the 1950's and 60's and played on countless studio recording sessions.
Genecco's shows are high-energy, full-impact, rollicking romps through the songs recorded and performed by Faye during her 6-decade-long career, with hits from the Rat Pack, Judy Garland, and even Billy Joel and Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, and Joe Cocker thrown in for good measure.
"Terese Genecco swings S.F. like it's Las Vegas!...a rollicking retro show...Genecco's sheer personality lights up the stage as much as her vocals...Judy Garland and Dean Martin's love child!" ~San Francisco Examiner
"Somewhere in the two-drink-minimum section of heaven, Louis Prima is smiling because Terese Genecco & her Little Big Band are carrying on the tradition of high-energy musical excitement that Prima and his gang for years created to electrify the wee hours in Nevada lounges...a welcome addition to the downtown music scene... Sizzling bongos and brass...a Charmer...Surprising and unexpected...Astonishingly good!" ~The Contra Costa Times
"Terese Genecco Brings the Best of Vegas To San Francisco: The show starts at 10:30PM, but you won't notice the hour as you listen to Terese Genecco sing with enough raw power to launch a N.A.S.A. space shuttle. She and her stellar band are sure to take you on a racy, raucous ride of hard driving music, engaging humor and all-out fun!" ~Cabaret Exchange, NYC
The videos below will give you a taste of Genecco's performances, starting with an ovation-earning nod to the traditional folk song, "Frankie & Johnny," arranged by Tony Malfatti, based on the original orchestration by Russ Garcia:
