12/5/07 I just uploaded a new track, Dream of the Buffalo Hunt. This track started out as a piece that was intended for my upcoming release, but ultimately didn't work in the scope of the rest of the work. I still liked it, so I thought I'd put it up here for people to enjoy. A very sountrack-based, epic piece that builds over time.
Pittsburgh native Jeff Kowal launched into the musical arena in 2002 with his well received debut "The Darker Space". His sophomore release, The Gate, broke the top 100 of 2004 on the New Age Reporter's playlist. A trained visual artist and graphic designer, Kowal's musical approach has a visceral, painterly quality to it. Using a hybrid of electronic and ethno-acoustic instrumentation, Kowal builds deep, ethereal sound worlds reminiscent of ancient civilizations and scared places yet discovered.
"Bouncing back and forth between genres of music and visual style helps me to not stall out on either. When I hit a stopping point with one, I shift over to the other to cleanse my palette... Usually they find ways of inspiring each other.", says Kowal.
Kowal's music has been featured on radio programs all over the globe, including the syndicated Hearts of Space, Philadelphia's Star's End and PRI's ECHOES with John Diliberto. Terra Ambient can also be heard on web stations including SOMAFM, KiteRadio, StillStream, Radio Penguin out of St. Petersburg and Ultima Thule, out of Australia. Terra Ambient's music has found a home in independent film, television commercials, a cable television program and several gallery installations.
If your interested, Here is a link to the company that I got my modular synthesizer from. SYNTHESIZERS.COM makes extremely solid, quality no-nonsense modular systems. If you ever wanted your own modular, but Synthesis Technology is a little too pricy, this might be a viable option.
This is an organization that Robert Rich introduced me to. There is some profound thinking and discussion going on here regarding the well being and evolution of humanity and our purpose in the universe. I highly recommend checking it out. It's time we realize that we are a collective organism and not a bunch of tribes struggling to dominate one another.
Visionary Art is by nature occult, in that it strives to reveal a secret and perennial knowledge, the wisdom teachings of the ages, through a personal insight into, and creative translation of the mystical experience.
